Paying for college on my own?

At this point, I think they plan on my getting either big scholarships or loans (besides the 5500, I think that some colleges give merit loans

I have never heard of “merit loans”…I’m not sure they exist. You do NOT want to borrow more than the Stafford Direct amounts. That would be too much debt.

It sounds like your scores are on track to get good merit from a number of schools.

YES…it is possible for you to go to a good school, with an Honors College, with a good merit scholarship. However, until you have actual scores, it’s too hard to know.

Good luck with your PSAT…a good score there can really provide merit.

Juillet: I live in New York, actually, so SUNY and CUNY are in-state for me.
I think I mixed up the CCNY major with a different one, but I’m considering a bunch of them. Hunter is actually one of my favorites in general (I’ve had access in other ways and it’s awesome) but I’m not really committing til I get closer to figuring out what to do with my life.
ctp: Yeah, the math number and the two-part score are worrying me. If I can’t significantly up my math score I’m in big trouble for CR+M schools. I’m just going to study for my PSAT and SAT and hope for the best.
