So Pomona is where I want to be, and I'm prepared to send in my paperwork. The ONLY thing that makes me hesitate is the cost. After my 4 years, I will be ~$40,000 in debt. I think it's worth it (over Whitman, where I would have no debt), but I just want to get other ppls opinions.

I know both are great schools, but Pomona has great departments in what I want to study (chem, Chinese), and I just got a GREAT feeling while I was at Pomona, the feeling "this is the place I want to spend my next four years". So I'm making the right decisions, yes?

Yes!

It's pretty tough to escape college without some financial debt, but, in any event, you will not regret attending Pomona. I've NEVER met anyone who has.

While i'm probably going to wesleyan, i'm in a similar situation as you. It costs me 14k a year to go to lafayette, 16k a year to go to Colgate and 22k a year to go to wesleyan. I've heard of colleges 'matching' the financial aid offer of other institutions, but it's nuts that wesleyan doesn't do that. As such i'll be around 88k or maybe more in debt by the time i graduate College...
You have to think about it though, is it worth it for you? Will you be dedicated enough to pay off those loans? Will you be willing to make sacrifices soon after you start work and 'settle' for slightly less posh things in exchange for what you think is a much better education?
If the answer is yes, then you belong at Pomona.
Good Luck!

Yes, E, you're making the right decision! If you've gotten into your dream school, then that's where you should go. If you go to Whitman, you might always have that what-if feeling, but you definitely won't regret going to Pomona, even with the extra money. Good luck! Ok, now I have to go and make my own decision...

Thanks guys...Pomona here I come!
Good luck B
