So im from louisiana and my biggest dream is to get into the fashion industry. The problem i have is that there is no fashion schools in louisiana and i would have to pay out of state tuition which is quite expensive. I really hope to go to FIT in new york because it is the most affordable one that i could find and ive read that the professors know what they are talking about because they actually work in the industry. Does anyone have any tips on paying? or links to scholarships that a fashion student could qualify for?
Fashion and Art schools aren’t known for giving aid excepting a very few for some very talented students. And Out of state publics often don’t give anything either. What are you other resources for college?
There is federal aid which is basically pell for Low income and Student Loan of 5,500 freshman year that anyone can get. There is your family college savings and whatever they can contribute annually. So how short are you?
Scholarships are given by the schools themselves often based on talent and the quality of your portfolio. Or there are colleges that give scholarships for grades and test scores. And sometimes you can get scholarships based on financial need. You will have to apply to see, and run the Net Price Calculator for FIT to get an estimate. What are you grades and scores like?

Comb lists of schools and look for ones where you might get instate tuition if you have good grades and scores, some give that. You do have an option in LA that at least gets you some industry exposure.
