Paying for RIT transcript for PLTW engineering courses?

will (highly selective) colleges care about the RIT transcript for my D’s PLTW engineering courses? Worth the money to pay for credits if RIT won’t be on her college list? Thanks.

It really depends on the school. Even RIT will only count some of them as gen eds depending on your score. Ask the school’s you are applying to whether they accept PLTW credit, if not then I wouldn’t suggest spending the money.

Keep in mind that the money that the transcript requires is A LOT cheaper than a college class. Even if it saves you a gen ed it might be worth it.

Thanks. D’s a freshman with the possibility of 4 years of engineering credits. We have to decide at the end of this school year whether to pay for this year since the credits can’t be paid for retroactively. We have little idea where she will apply for college. Should I call some possible colleges’ admission offices and ask?

I think it counts as general elective classes at some colleges. We’ll go ahead and do it, just in case our kid decides to go to a college that will accept them in some way.

DS got the credit and his school accepted it. However, for his school, the grade © also transferred. This ultimately hurt his gpa.

Thanks for sharing your experiences!
