I really want to go to USD, but $50,000 a year is way too much to pay. I got a $5,000 scholarship, but that only helps a little bit. My EFC is $25,000 and I'm sure there are people with a lower EFC, so I doubt I'll be getting any scholarships because of that. And I don't want to spend the rest of my life paying off student loans. So, my question is, does USD really give a lot of scholarships after that FAFSA is submitted because I read on their website that like 60% of students receive some form of aid? And if not, how should I go about paying for it?

what you got was a MERIT scholarship. Financial Aid is a separate process. Have you sent your FAFSA to USD?

My prediction is that if you have a $25,000 EFC, that USD will gap you about $5,000, meaning they will offer you cash (Grant) plus Loans, plus Work Study in the amount of $28,000. This will leave you about $5,000 short of the Cost of Attendance of abut $58,000.

FYI, almost all schools gap. There are a select few that are called “100% need met” schools. They tend to be among the top 30 Unis and Top 30 LACs in the USNWR lists.

Yeah I’ve sent my FAFSA already. Well, that’s all good stuff to know! So USD is a pretty generous school when it comes to need based aid??

If my EFC is 99999, do I have no chance at getting aid?

Mere, it your EFC is more than cost of attendance, then you probably won’t be getting any need-based aid (because you have no “need”). You might get a merit scholarship, though. Those are independent of need.
