paying the tuition

hey guys, i was wondering if any of you knew the procedure/ system for paying tuition. i've been looking at the BU website, and all i've found out is how much i have to pay per year and when the deadline is. my parents need to find out if i have to pay the whole thing by the deadline or if it's by semester. can anyone give insight? thanks

Best thing: Call the Admissions office..:)

thanks dude...problem is, it's kinda hard to call the office all the way from the philippines. lol. :)

I think it differs by college..

My college wants all internationals to pay 1st semester by 15th June. And it takes 2 weeks for international wire transfer so I had to do this quite a while ago. (well they say it takes 2 weeks but only took us less than 1 week).

How about e-mailing the admission office?

how did you know how much and when to pay?

I have the same question.. how does the whole paying thing work? And does your total tuition for the semester depend on how many courses you've taken in total or does that vary with colleges? I know here you open a student file at the bank. I have no idea what comes next.

Tsubie-chan, that varies by college. Some colleges calculate tuition by the number of credits attempted, others charge a flat-rate tuition for all full-time students regardless of the actual number of classes you are enrolled in. You can find infos like that at every university's website.

oh i think ive figured it out, im panicking for nothing. the reason why i dont know how much and how to pay is because i havent been assigned a dorm yet. and apparently each dorm costs differently, so once im assigned a dorm it'll be added to my total expenses and i'll be asked to pay then. haha thanks for the help guys!

Hmmm, I read every tuition related page in the catalogue of my school (MHC) and they didn't have any information about this particularly thing. In fact, they hardly had any information about the breakdown of the tuition fees (if there's such a thing). I am also wondering how much money I should take with me when going to college (other costs that is) if I will be travelling from Asia and do not have a credit card. I am a person on financial aid and I believe the aid award will pay a part of my tuition and room and board and the rest is to be paid by my parents. What I will earn through the work-study will probably pay for my total estimated personal expenses and books and stuff (I hope they're not that costly ~_~).

2 weeks? Are you sure, because I am yet to pay my enrollment deposit and the deadline is tomorrow? I thought wire transfer takes at most 2 days!!!!

Oh wow Abhi, your post count is sure large considering you only joined about an year ago. O_O

chill abhi, i think it depends on the country. to be safe, maybe you should contact your bank. :)

HeHeHe I joined CC when I was in 9th (finished 12th this year). This is my third account (:))

My bank says that it takes at most a day :D

Oh look and I join after accepting an offer from a college I am not the least interested in going (and I graduated last year).

My post count is just as large as Abhi's and I joined much later :P.

Tsubie-chan, MHC charges a flat-rate tuition fee. MHC will send you the first semester bill in early July and the bill is due on July 31. The second semester bill will be due December 31.

You should bring at least $500 with you because you will have to buy books (anticipate $200-400) and some personal items that you cannot bring with you (linens, a hairdryer, towels...). You won't be allowed to work before you get your SSN and that takes several weeks.

Am I allowed to take computer parts such as DVD drives... that is electronic stuff with me if there isn't the voltage issue?

And...
why can't I take towels o_O?

tsubie, just go to your college website. there should be a section there on housing and the stuff you can/cannot take with you to the dorm. :)

Of course you bring towels with you if you would like, but I know for sure that there won't be any space for them in my bags...

I am not aware of any issue that would prevent you from bringing computer parts.
