I came from CalSo, and realized that I have to make the first payments by august 15th (am I right so far?). I heard this is for Tuition, around 6,000. So, how do you sign up for E-bill and pay for it?

Also, do you have to pay ALL $23,000ish on the 15th of august, or some other time before school starts? OR is it payments, like for cars and houses?

Neither me nor my parents no much about the financing, and could use your help.

Tuition for the first semester is due by August 15 - ~3500 or whatever this year's tuition cost is now.

Dorm fees are probably do around that time however you do not have to pay for the entire year at one time. If you have enough financial aid, they normally charge the entire semester if you don't, they charge on a month to month basis I believe.

Your financial aid for the semester is deposited into CARS.

Tuition is deducted from CARS.
Housing is deducted from CARS (if there is enough, the entire semester is charged).
Other charges are deducted from CARS.

Anything left over is refunded to you in the form of a check or electronic fund transfer by the 3rd or so week of classes.

If you know that financial aid won't cover all your costs, you'll need to pay money into CARS.

1) Mail a check (or pay in person at University Hall).
2) E-Bill.
3) Your bank's online bill payment service.

If you have online bill payment (e.g. from Bank of America), use that. It's the best. Mailing checks sucks, and you have to get stamps and envelopes and it takes time. E-Bill is great for convenience, but they charge a 50 cent fee, which isn't bad, but if you've got online bill paying for free from your bank, then it is just as convenient while costing you nothing extra.

Basically, if you go to Bearfacts and look at your Quick Statement under CARS, whatever it says you owe, you have to pay.

now how do things work with the loans??? I accepted the loans and did the promisory note and chose a how much i wanted to borrow and everything, but now what? do they pay cal directly, or do they credit CARS or send a check? Do you just wait for them 2 pay cal, and whatever you don't use is refunded???

Most likely Cal will take whatever you owe them, then if anything is left, they'll deposit it into your bank account. That's how it typically works (though you can certainly call and ask).

uhm i just looked at my CARS and saw a $20 application fee for housing...anyone have any idea wat that is? i dont remember any application fee...

You probably don't remember it because some small print on the housing application said it would automatically be billed and you didn't read the whole thing. If you really think it's an error, call them. Otherwise, pay it, or they will charge you a late fee.

do you guys mean when you go on bearfacts - CARS - quick statement, it says account balance:$20.00, this means I owe them twenty dollars?

and about the promissory note, I completed it (long ago) and at the end of the process it asks you for mailing request and i checked it (thinking they will notify berkeley that i finished mpn) but it still says i'm missing promissory note, am i supposed to mail them the hard copy or what?
