PDF cuts off Additional Comments

Ok, so when I do the PDF generation, part of my additional comments become over written by the foot note that displays the applicant information at the end of each page. For instance,
"My school broke down in the CEEB: 12401i412408, CAI: 985959X Name and it was very dark" It doesn't just shift the sentence, but it overwrites it completely. What can I do about this?

Have you contacted the Common App about this?

This is a common problem for applications with long Additional Information sections and there appears to be no good fix for it. Our D ended up putting in some almost blank lines between paragraphs in the Additional Information section with a small nonsense character on each one, like this:
.
.
.
That is awkward, but it allows for space between the paragraphs so it will both preview and print properly. If anyone has a better solution, please post!

CA is still not generating a PDF preview for me. Didn’t work last night either.

PS I’m on the east coast/ north east if that matters…

It didn’t work in TX at 6:30 am either. First time for that problem for us since September. I suspect as we approach Nov 1st this will be more and more of a problem. Maybe set the alarm for 2 am??

Yes I sent them a request and received an acknowledgement but not a response. Also, I’m not sure of I should make awkward break, because what it how I see it isn’t the way the colleges see it and they see a bunch of awkward breaks?

What you see in the pdf preview is exactly what colleges will see. That’s the whole point of the preview. If it doesn’t look good there to you, it won’t look good to your colleges, and vice versa.

Well, preview look is varying from browser to browser. So its now interesting, which college will use which browser. Have tried a lot, but no many be make it good/consistent in all three browsers I tried, FF, IE, Chrome.

Save the preview as a pdf file and then open it separate from the browser with an Adobe program to see how it will look to colleges. Schools will not be viewing through a browser. They will download it to a file.

Yep I had to download the pdf to get it to show anything more than white lines. I also had to do some weird line breaking to get my paragraphs to be paragraphs
