I read somewhere that you have to take at least one PE classes during your freshman year, is that true? Also, how are PE classes structured? Are they available for everyone and are there any restrictions whatsoever? Thanks.

Also, do Pomona sports teams have walk-on tryouts?

That's true. However, there are so many PE classes from which to choose, including badminton, raquetball, horseback riding, dance classes, yoga, riflery, rock climbing, weight training, tennis, and a bunch more. It's not anything like high school. Each class is structured differently depending on the sport, but you basically just learn how to play/do the sport, and the rest of the semester you do it or play it for fun. Varsity sports (and some club sports I believe) count toward the PE requirement too. I'm pretty sure most the Pomona sport teams have walk-ons.

Thanks gnatcire. I just got the course catalog for next fall, and I have one more question about PE classes. Is there a big difference between Pomona PE classes and Joint-program PE classes hosted by Claremont McKenna? Obviously one has more people, but will there be a problem or difficulty of joining a joint-program PE classes instead? The reason I asked is because soccer is only offered as a joint-program PE classes by CMC next fall. I could take another PE class at Pomona and I know soccer is offered by Pomona in the Spring, but I would still rather play in the fall too. Thanks.
