PE grades

Is it pretty easy to get an A in PE?

I initially thought that those classes were graded p/np so I thought, hey why not. Are they usually a good way to relax?

I heard they can be INTENSE?

PE badminton is cancelled… ***. i was planing to take that.

bump. i want to know too :)

well, since I took my PE class, might as well update. I got a B in Vinyasa Yoga with Toni Mar. While it was a great class, I hated how it was at 9am and was late pretty often. Heh. It lowered my total GPA by .01. :(

should’ve taken p/np, but didn’t matter much and I highly recommend Toni Mar!

A in PE 2 and PE 3 (intermediate and adv tennis)) with Morris. He’s great.

Level 3 requires a tryout though

Has anyone taken taekwondo for P.E?

If so, how was it?

Thanks!!

kape1one, I know for a fact that Master Singer, the head coach of the Taekwondo team at Berkeley, trains his students like there is no tomorrow. (I’ve trained with him and his students a couple of times)

On the other hand, Dr. Anh, I heard is a traditionalist and sticks to the roots of Taekwondo. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, Master Singer will be training the competition team; Dr. Anh will be teaching on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Whether or not that will include people in P.E., I don’t know. But nonetheless, Taekwondo will surely get your lower body in shape and make you explosive as hell if you take it seriously. I know this for a fact because I’ve been doing Taekwondo for 13 years.

I am an incoming freshman and hope to see you on the team this upcoming fall!

Edit:
By the way, my friend told me that practice is from 9:00 - 11:00ish PM Mon-Fri.

Thanks for the info! I will most likely enroll if there is still space. I have telebears in less than a week, so I hope to get into the class.

most likely, I will see there!

For Taekwondo PE, you have it with Mr.Ahn. I’m not entirely sure if it’s that hard to get a A, but in the beginning of the class (taking it right now), he said only 20% of all his classes could get As…so my friends and I just made our grade P/NP to not have to worry hahah…it’s a pretty fun class though. I would advise you to choose a class that isn’t back to back with another class. Otherwise, it’d be a pain in the ass because you have to go to the locker room/get locker/get changed there in less than ten minutes.

Hey thanks for the info! Can you tell me more about the class please,

what do you guys do on an average day? is the fee still $15?
Also, are there competitions within the class? tests?

thanks i appreciate it!!

it’s two days a week/a hour each. We normally do warm-ups for 20 minutes (first you start off by running laps around the room to warm up your legs. the warm-ups can be pretty fun. piggy back rides, wheel barrow, dragging someone across the room, skipping or just some suicides, pushups, situps). The second half is used to punch, practice kicks, and blocks. Sometimes you just kick the air, but most of the time you get the paddles to practice with another taekwondo classmate. The $15 fee is for renting the uniform. there’s no competitions/sparring since it’s a beginners PE class, but there’s a midterm/final (you just do what you learn in class so it’s nothing you really have to prepare for lol). There’s also a GSI that is in charge of the warmups.

It’s very beginner friendly and it’s pretty fun because you bond with classmates since you tend to do things with a partner. I’m actually considering joining the Taekwondo RSF club since it’s so fun! But because it’s a PE class of 20, you won’t get that much attention on your technique.
