Would like to know more about the college in Parents and student perspective
Have you visited?
Anyone knows the when Peabody Regular decisions are coming out?
Not yet, my S would love to go after the admission decisions come out. He applied for “Music for New Media Program”
Since you posted in the Vanderbilt forum, just to clarify, are you talking about Peabody, Vanderbilt (education) or Peabody, JHU (music)?
I’m assuming JHU, given your last post. If so, maybe the moderator can move your thread?
Peabody JHU (I didn’t put it in Vanderbilt University up there, someone else did. I changed it to JHU)
I’ll flag this post to get the moderator’s attention. You’ll get more replies if it’s under JHU. or, maybe the music forum would be even better?
Does it look ok now? thanks for catching that by the way
Yes, wonderful! I didn’t know you could do that! Lol
Back to Peabody! We visited, but my music kid (non-major) didn’t apply. We loved the Peabody campus. It is in a beautiful historic area on a hill with cobblestone streets, a museum/monument down the block with a little grassy area right across the street from the main buildings. We were in love.
Because my kid wasn’t applying to Peabody, but to the main campus, getting to Peabody for lessons and ensembles was a concern. There is a shuttle that runs frequently, but it still seemed like it would be a hassle, especially if you were running late or the weather or traffic were bad.
My kid has a friend who is there and, from what I know, is really enjoying it. They also have another friend who got great financial aid there and wanted to go but turned it down to be closer to home.
Thankyou for sharing. My S is planning to take minor as well at JHU if he joins, in that case he will be going back and forth from main campus to Peabody(though he would be spending lot of time at Peabody campus).
April 1st
That might be the best of both worlds. They could stay at Peabody but go over to main campus for their academic classes and when they wanted to be part of a bigger community. We were just imagining my kid using the shuttle as an easy excuse not to practice everyday, but if you have an actual class, I don’t think it would be a problem.
Will message you.
I am curious to know the college vibe at Peabody(JHU).
