Peabody to A&S

I would like to be accepted into the A & S College, but it was suggested that I apply to Peabody College and transfer at a later date to A & S. Does anyone have a thought in this regard. Re: How hard to accomplish a transfer?

Its not hard to transfer between schools.

It is a paper transfer. Literally filling out a single sheet.

definetly go with the peabody to A&S, it is so much easier

I have a friend who said and did the same thing. She applied to Peabody because that was really the only way she could get in to Vandy, planning to maybe switch to A&S but now that she is there, she is thinking that she will stick with Peabody, because the classes are easier.

eh, i didnt even think schools mattered. it probably wont make much of a difference in difficulty of getting in.

Oh, there's a difference! I have a few friends who have no business being at Vandy but got in because they applied to Peabody. They went because the University was by far the highest ranked in relation to the other schools at which they were accepted. They were all turned down at places like Emory, William and Mary, UVA, not even waitlisted. I think that says something.

I have a friend who got into Vandy via Peabody with a 25! Which school you apply to definitely makes a difference. But, seriously, if you don't plan to stay in Peabody, don't apply to it.

This is complete BS. If you look at Revealed Preference data, Vanderbilt wins the cross-admit battles against Emory (which is more telling than your sample size of friends). And for schools such as UVA and W&M, its important to remember public schools often set the admissions bar higher for out-of-state students.
