I was wondering about the different acceptance rates for the two different schools. I love Vandy, and would like to go there no matter what, and then possibly transfer into another program. The HOD sounds great. My stats are a little low for the Arts & Sciences (3.7 uw gpa, 31 ACT), but ECs and essays put aside, do you think that Peabody is much easier to get into compared to the Arts & Sciences? I know this year the numbers jumped up a lot, which scares me away from applying to the Arts & Sciences. I'm also probably doing ED, and I'm from NJ. Thanks!

Yes it is.

You shouldn't apply to a school just because it's easier to get into. You should apply to whatever school is more appealing to you. What would you do if they didn't let you transfer schools for whatever reason?

They don't let everyone transfer and from what I've heard they are pretty good at their jobs meaning they don't let people manipulate the system just for kicks. You'd probably have a better chance at A&S.

It is very easy to transfer between the schools. I have a couple of friends who switched from engineering to A&S and vice-versa after their first semester. I also know a couple of upperclassmen who switched between Peabody and A&S and vice-versa. This one girl I know has been in Engineering, A&S and Peabody in her 4 years here!

But yes, Peabody is the easiest school to get into and A&S is relatively "harder."

I would probably want to go to Peabody anyway, even though I'm not positive, because the HOD program sounds right for me. I just want to make sure that if I change my mind transferal is an option.

Yes; it is possible to transfer as everyone has said. I did the opposite, transferred from A&S to Peabody; my 1 word of caution is that it is MUCH easier to transfer to peabody than it is to A&S... hod expects a high # of transfers after freshman year (in) so they keep space to allow transfers in. A&S, that's not always the case.

Also, they will make you wait a year before transferring to another school within the university, but you can take classes there before you transfer!

I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering which college has the highest acceptance rate currently and if engineering is tough to transfer to.

Transferring is practically painless.

As of 2012, Peabody had the highest acceptance rate, followed by Engineering and then A&S. However, Engineering students had the highest SAT score though; Engineering only had a higher acceptance rate because they get less applicants than A&S. Truly the admissions standards are barely different across the three schools. I don’t think they even get reviewed by different people…
