Its now 4 AM and I have spent the whole night/morning saying goodbyes (hahah watching the sunrise...very movie-esque) . It hasn't hit...im sure itll hit as I lay in my rack on night # 1. Thanks to all for all the help. Peace

Peace, guys, peace.

Thanks for all the help!

Good lucks, guys!

Make us proud(er)! :)

Peace indeed.

All I ask is prayer.

Oh, know that prayer is with ALL of you! Ours just went out the door--after staying up all night saying goodbyes. We're already so proud of you all. You can do this--and you will thrive. Fair winds and following seas.

we said goodbye to our kiddo last saturday as we put her on a plane....she's now 3000 miles away and as the hours pass I am getting more and more excited! All these years of planning are finally coming to a reality!

May our great God be with all of us(CC parents, and CC almost Plebes) as together we start this grand journey supporting our children as they prepare to serve their country!!!

God bless all of you cc plebes. You're gonna do fine. And remember to let us know how you're doing when you get the chance!

Breakaleg Mister and Ms. Mids!

Keep your eye on the goal.

See you on the Yard!

Thanks everyone for all your help and support. Good luck to my fellow plebes-to-be (tommorrow).

BYE Plebes-to-be! sniff sniff We'll be looking for pictures of you.

He who starts the journey of a thousand miles, begins with one step.

This step is sure to be a big one. Keep your mind on your goals & don't let them ever make you believe that you don't belong in the middle of that yard! Go get 'em! Stay safe & well! Check back in with everyone when you're able. Best of luck & OWN it!

Our kiddo gave a motivational speech before her peers last month and she closed with the motto of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes...
( To put this in better context, realize the 'competition' about to begin is not between Plebes, but within the mind, heart and soul of each Plebe, to compete WITHIN themselves, to achieve- to support their Plebe-mates - to work as hard as they can personally -to do your best as a teammate- to uphold the Navy Core Values -and do this with discipline and humility...you'll better understand her closing comments to her school mates.....)

Come tomorrow......

"Let the competition begin
Let the glory be God's"

I wish you all the best!

On that note, here comes the bad news. The weather in Annapolis has been horrendous the last few days. Nonstop rain. The ground is so soaked it can't hold any more water, and flash flood warnings have been issued. The air is so moist and so hot it literally feels like walking into a sauna. My advice: be prepared! Drink plenty of water, cause you're going to be sweating like dogs. The best idea is a Camel-bak. I don't know if you're allowed ot use them during Plebe Summer, but they are definitely worth the investment. I work maintenance at my school just minutes away from the Yard. The only way I make it through is by filling my Camel-bak 3/4 full with water, freezing it, then filling the rest of the pouch with as much water as I can. Ice cold, all day long.

According to Naval Academy tradition, if a Dixie cup (the plebe's hats) is placed upon the very pinnacle of the Naval Academy chapel, then Plebe Summer is officially over. I don't know exactly what that entails, like not chopping, etc. It's never been done before, and its nearly impossible to get it done without being seen (although there are hidden ladders within the Chapel sanctuary itself that lead up the dome), but I just thought I'd share one, last encouraging thought with you before you left.

Those are really the only words of advice I can give, but I hope they do you good. I will be praying for you, and at the same time chuckling to myself as I watch you all run by while I enjoy a nice porch-sit at my friend's house on the Yard.

Good luck!
