peace corp- valued as good work experience?

I am going to be a junior in college this upcoming fall and I have my heart set on becoming a lawyer. I will mainly be aiming for schools ranked 15-40 but I also would like to apply to a few T-14's. I would love to go to a law school in new york city).

I have decided to take a few years in between undergrad and law school, however, to pursue other interests. I have always been interested in the peace corps and I am highly considering it. My question is whether law schools, particularly "top schools", will regard experience in the peace corps as on par in quality with more traditional jobs?

side note: I am not devoting my life or curbing my life plans to please some kind of formula for admission. I am really only wondering how schools view this type of experience.

For getting into top law schools, Peace Corps is BETTER than a traditional job, at least a job held only 1-2 years.

^^ Agreed

The Peace Corps and Teach for America all look really good for law school admissions and probably advantage the candidate the same amount if not a bit more than a 2 year stint at a top bank or consulting firm.

How do you come up with this opinion? I don’t think it has any merit.
