<p>Does anyone else here believe in Peak Oil? There are or have been plenty of threads about world events (China/Taiwan, Israel/Palestine, Iraq), but nothing on Peak Oil.</p>
<p>OK, I'll bite.
What is "Peak Oil" and how do I learn more about it?

<p>Peak oil is a total load of crap that (sorry for the Limbaughism here) wacko environmentalists want you to believe so we have to pay more for gas. Oil is being produced constantly underneath the ocean. We will never run out of oil.</p>
<p>"We will never run out of oil."
Many people who are sceptical of Peak Oil think that it is a theory that we will run out of oil. This is not true. In fact, we never will run out of oil, that is given under Peak Oil. Peak Oil holds that production will continue until it hits a peak, and then begin an irreversible decline. As oil production decreases, prices go up, allowing for greater expansion, but the expansion is not enough to offset production declines in other fields.
Many people didn't believe that the US oil production would peak when it was proposed in 1956, but sure enough it did in 1971 and has been decreasing ever since.
Rep Bartlett (R-MD) has been doing a few speeches and presentations on Peak Oil recently.
If you care to learn more, just do a google search.</p>
