peddie campus and dorms?

Hi,
I am thinking about doing a sleep away camp at Peddie. Can anyone that has visited or attends Peddie tell me what the dorms and campus are like?

Peddie School is not one of my favorite campuses, but aesthetics are very personal. They do have great facilities there, so I'm sure you'll be fine. There was someone on this board -- njdana I think -- who had it as her #1 choice and got in. You might search for her and pm her. I'm sure she has given the campus much thought because she will go there next year.

We visited last year. It's one of those cases that the school looked great on paper, but we were disappointed when we visited. My son didn't get the gut feeling that it was the right place for him, so he did not apply. Ironically, he ended up going to Blair, Peddie's rival school; you're supposed to dislike your rival.

I visited Peddie this year and really liked it. The dorms were recently redone and the new science center is incredible. The campus grows on you and it seemed nice to have everything centrally located. The history building was beautiful and the cafeteria overlooking the water was beautiful as well. Of course I agree with Burb Parent that Blair has a gorgeous campus. Peddie also does have excellent academics and I think I can safely say that no other school in the state of New Jersey has a science center and faculty that can compare. You'll probably get a lot out of a camp experience there. Also like Blair, it has a down to earth feel that is very refreshing among boarding schools.

i like lawrenceville more than peddie :)

I visited Lawrenceville as well, but their facilities especially the freshman cafeteria and their athletic facilities are very tired looking and the dorms were crammed. I also didn't like how the math classes seemed crowded and all the kids just sat in rows. Also the faculty never sits and eats with the kids and you are completely on your own when it comes to meals. Meals are important and I wouldn't like for my child to have to catch as catch can for every meal. It also bothered me that the Seniors get a nice cafeteria with good food and everyone else has to trudge across campus to get food that's not great according to their students. Bottom line for me was that the feel is not down to earth at that school. To each his own. It's good that we all like different things. The campus is pretty, but I think they're cruising on an old reputation. Just my opinion, but Peddie felt much better and much more real.

Hey soccerprep92,

I see you have an interest for Peddie as you might attend one of their summer camps. Their campus is wonderful, not much as when you see their pictures in books, online, etc. but is still beautiful. Their new science center is crazy. I felt in love as an aspiring radiologist. You won't be dissapointed.

Lawrenceville was not for me. It felt too cut throat and unreal. Just like what liv&learn said, the dorms was crammed. If I was any interested boarding student, I would want to feel at home since I'm not living at home. It's true how all the Senior rooms, centers, etc. is better and how freshman look like they are just old looking.
