Peddie Help

I'm on the waitlist for Peddie (9th grade boarding). I'm very anxious to know my prospects of being accepted, since it's the only school I applied to.

If you were accepted to Peddie please post if you were accepted or waitlisted for any other schools and what your current plans are.

My guess is that Peddie accepted about double the number of kids they have spots for, so I need a lot of movement from the accepted kids before they get to the waitlist.

My anxiety is so high, any help would be great.

Peddie,

Even if 20 ccers write to say they were accepted at Peddie and are not matriculating, that doesn't mean you can estimate your chances for admissions any more accurately than without this information. . I honestly hope you get in, but it is more than just a numbers game. Often admissions will try to replace the declined spot with someone who is very similar to that candidate. Someone here made a great analogy to the incoming class being like a great vase of different kinds of flowers. So if a "rose" declines, they will look to the waitlist for another "rose". Doesn't matter if the iris is equally perfect, they already have one. I just hate to think that you are trying to weigh your odds based on responses here. It really is entirely out of your hands.
Good luck. I'm crossing my fingers for you.

I'm aware of those dynamics in selecting off the waitlist. But, I'd like to get a feel for the numbers coming off this forum. I have a family friend that knows one of the coaches well, and he's making a call to help move me off the wait list. At least he says he is, but I have no reason to doubt him.

bump I really do some help.

I got accepted, and will most likely, not be matriculating to Peddie.

Good Luck!

Thanks Alex, evry little bit of information helps.

bump, I do need more help and I know many have been accepted to Peddie that post on cc. Please contribute your circumstances.

sorry to bump again, but I know many of you can share some information and help out.

Looking at the master list, only about 5 people on CC were accepted to Peddie so I'm not really sure you're going to get any useful information here.

Yeah, Peddie is not one of those schools that everyone talks about on CC... The only useful information I can give you is to show them how interested you are in their program...

That's odd, since Prepeview ranks Peddie at #14 right behind Choate ranked 12, Hotchkiss 11, Lawrenceville 10 and ahead of St. Andrew's, Taft, Loomis and several others that are constantly talked about. Why so little conversation on cc?

I think people don't talk about it so much since its out of the whole New England Prep School loop, being in NJ. I got accepted at Peddie too, but I'm sorry to say that I can't tell you whether or not I'll matriculate there. I'm completely torn between Peddie and Lawrenceville.

justbeingme, Lawrencevile is a much better school and a much better fit for you. lol. Just kidding. You will choose what's best for you, as you should. Good luck.

I'm having a hard time choosing between Peddie and Emma Willard.
Has anyone visited Peddie? I, too, need some detailed information about Peddie.. PM me please

I can tell you that Peddie has a very nice campus. The science building is state of the art. They're building a huge new addition to the already first class athletic facilities. The education is top notch, and second to few, if any, schools. Despite what you hear on cc.

I don't know much about EM so I looked at the web site. The school is magnificent. I wish Peddie looked like that. Major obvious difference is that EM is all girls. A great advantage in focusing on studies, but it may not be for everyone. Peddie also seems to be more expensive. Financial aid at each is a consideration too. But, as many experienced posters would tell you, the most important thing is the fit of the school to your personally.

Good luck with your decision.

bump. I can't help hoping for a few more responses.
