If your choice bases mostly on matriculation list, you aren’t wrong. In term of matriculation, Peddie definitely does better then NMH, though both are great school.

lol are you serious?? the most popular school is UPenn!

I had never heard of Peddie until I joined CC. This is not to denigrate the school in any way whatsoever. The only reason I bring it up is: where does the name come from? For the longest time I assumed it was an abbreviation or nickname, but came to figure out it’s the real name. Trivia time, folks. Where’s the derivation?

Here is the link with history info:

Well.
Any personal opinion of mine will, of course, be slanted in favor of Lawrenceville… But take a look at both lists and you can see that it is 100%, un-biased, and irrefutable FACT that Lawrenceville has better matriculation numbers than Peddie does. I’d also like to add that 16 members of the Class of 2007 matriculated to Princeton… that’s double Peddie’s number in 5 YEARS.

You guys, this thread was not, and never should be about comparing Lawrenceville and Peddie. It’s about Peddie! Please give it a rest.

When I personally visited Peddie I was very impressed. It tends to be a very quite school on these boards ,which is a shame.

Princeton High School is an anomaly - so many of the kids have parents who are professors at the University. The university also tries very hard to maintain good town and gown relations. If you want to get into Princeton, go to Princeton High school!

Simply going to Princeton High School (and really, any other school, for that matter) isn’t going to get you into Princeton… I mean, you said it yourself, “so many of the kids have parents who are professors at the University.” Going to Princeton High School won’t get you a parent at the University. Obviously, that’s not to say that PHS doesn’t “make” Princeton-worthy kids. It does, I know some kids going for Fall 08 and they deserve to be there. But the fact is, Princeton town is full of professor’s children who definitely have an advantage.

phs ranked #13 out of 316 nj public high schools in 2007, according to nj monthly magazine. McNair Academic, Jersey City, placed first.

Admitedly, this is based on a magazine ranking system and we all know that many newspaper and magazine rankings systems are about as reliable as, oh, i don’t know…a chances thread?

A family friend knows a former Princeton/Harvard admission faculty member and she spoke very highly of Peddie. She compared Peddie to an up and coming Choate (if that helps at all).

thank you for all your discussion (if no fight it would be better!)!!!

well… a “peddie” thread is always not popular..

Ok that wasnt a funny joke. lol Kidding

just a couple of notes on the Lawrenceville Peddie debate:

Lville has 800 students compared to Peddie’s 500 students, so of course they are going to be sending more kids to schools just because of sheer numbers

Secondly, if you follow the bellow link you will see that Peddie has a higher average SAT score

[Boarding Schools with the Highest Average SAT Score - All Schools](Boarding Schools with the Highest Average SAT Scores (2025))

just facts to think about

I think we all should breathe deeply and agree to disagree.

:):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Peddie is a great school. However, I think that its average SAT score reported on boardingschoolreview is incorrect. Take a look at the 25 - 75th range of SAT scores also on the bsr website [Peddie School - Boarding School Profile](http://www.boardingschoolreview.com/school_ov/school_id/44). This is more consistent with their historic numbers. It is highly unlikely that they have a range of 1720-2030, but have an average SAT score of 2000. When we were looking around 3 years ago, their reported SAT was around mid-1800s.

i have a feeling peddie, along with a few other boarding schools, are going to experience not just fame recognition but matriculation increases over the next few years. let’s be honest, not many of us know about the peddie school unless we’ve researched significantly, whereas many of us know andover/exeter. it’s going to become one of the very well known schools, something im going to look forward to seeing (it was originally one of my list of schools to apply to, but i chose a more “safety” school in place of it)

of course it’s just my belief, and it’s not to say peddie isn’t a great school already :)
