I am applying for Peddie as a 10 grade day student. I got a 98th percentile on the SSAT, but the writing wasn’t great, and did very well at my interview. My GPA is approximately 3.7. I believe my application is decent, but very opinionated and passionate. I play competitive tennis and volunteer frequently. I also play the saxophone (at a pretty high level)
Can anyone predict my chances of being accepted or give any advice? Thank You!
Their average SSAT Percentile is 74 while their acceptance rate is 25%, considering that you’re way above their average percentile scores, I’d say that you have a pretty good shot.
Thank you!
You look like a good candidate for them and your odds are good.
The other thing that matters (and that we don’t know) is whether you seem to be a good fit and if they can give you the FA you need.
I’m not applying for financial aid. As for the “fit”, I have many friends at Peddie, and the interviewer asked me who I knew. Also, while my parents were talking to the interviewer I met with one of my friends in the admissions office. The interviewer saw it, so will that affect the decision?
Also, I don’t know if it makes a difference, but I applied last year but was put in the waitlist. This year, I focused more on athletics, as that is where I was the weakest.
I have a feeling you will get in, especially since it is your second time applying. That shows you are likely to attend if admitted. Plus, you are FP… Good luck… and keep us posted!
Thanks, everything is so helpful! I’m rly nervous ?
Also, what is FP when referring to admissions?
I’m also applying to Lawrenceville, but Peddie is by far my first choice. Can they see if I’m applying to other schools through the SAO?
Full Pay, i.e. not needing FA (financial aid).
Applying a second time helps - they know you are really interested.
Running into friends doesn’t really matter. (What if your friend happenedto be a kid who had had a lot of disciplinary issues? You wouldn’t want it counting against you!) The benefit of running into a friend is that it probably made you more relaxed.
Needing FA can complicate things simply because few schools have the ability to fund every student who cannot pay. So it helps that you are FP because if they want to admit you, you won’t have to go through a second screen to see if they can afford to admit you.
It doesn’t mean you will not have to be a competitive appliant (as you discovered last year!)
How many 10th graders does Peddie take? That will be a factor, plus how you fit in with their needs (ie, do they need more that play your sport?). I think it looks good though.
