Peddie vrs. Kent

If you got to choose, as a parent what will you recomend?

Why are you asking this question? Did you get accepted at both schools? If that is the case, then I recommend that you go to both revisits. If you are unable to go to revisits, then I recommend that you list the kinds of things that are important to you – like specific varsity athletics, arts, curriculum, etc.

Thank you for replying. I got accepted in both Kent and Peddie; I am waitlisted in Choate ( I guess I can’t count on that). My question is mostly academically since I don’t participate in sports. I am doing the PG year as a transitional year between high school and College; and besides I didn’t did great as a Junior ( c ) and just average as a senior (b-). My question in sum, is academically which one is more appealing? I am aware that Peddie is ranked highly than Kent, but does that difference really count for College acceptance? if I get great grades in Kent will I get bigger chances at a good college applications? or does being an average at Peddie count better, in college application.

Are you going to revisits? If you are, make an appointment with someone in college advising to discuss your situation. Generally, the revisits do not last all day, so you should be able to make an appointment for the late afternoon.

Take a look at where the average graduate goes. If you are not that familiar with colleges, you can see how Barrons classifies them. They have a large book “Profiles of American Colleges” that should be at your library.

I suspect that the bottom 50% at Peddie will be a little stronger than at Kent, but I don’t know. You might also consider taking a college course or 2 this summer to prove that you can do it well.

Please go to revisits if you can.
