*Great Rec's From Teachers & Director of School District
*Great Rec's from Renown Local Artist
*Submitted my Slides of Paintings to Columbia with list of my resume (I have won considerable regional acclaim with respect to my artwork, despite the fact of my limited resources at disposal; I am also considered to be the best high-school artist in my area.)
* #2 & #3 in my class were accepted into Stanford

Pretty good overall... low sat's

Well, we can't tell you your chances. Only an adcom can. I'm assuming you've already applied, so wait until April and you'll know for sure.

excellent grades, not lacking in that area. SAT scores definitely need to be higher. Just out of curiosity, what kind of high school do you go to? Big public school, like Tech or Skyline or what?

Overall, you I'd say you have a decent shot, as Stanford loves lower income URM's, and you being #1 will definitely help. But seriously, I have a ton of respect for kids like you who have the drive to suceed and be #1, especially when lacking in the $ department. Good luck, hope you get in!

Thanks Steveo, I agree my SAT's are bit on the lower percentile but I hope the adcoms can uncover my passion, intelligence and true potential in my essays.

I go to a public school with roughly around 1,300 kids that compose its student body. The school is incredibly diverse with students from over 90 different countries and varying socio-economic status. Overall, it's a nice melange. So, no, it isn't a huge public like O-Tech or Skyline but it has an excellent AP program and is gaining momentum and respect within our local community (inspite of the infamous Jewish Lesbian). LOL!

Can you major in medicine?

Hahaha.... I like that phrasing glucose. "can you..."

LOL! I assure you, "I can."

I don't think you grasped what R!ck (glucose) meant. To my knowledge there is no undergrad degree specifically in medicine (many schools have pre-med programs, but even that isn't a degree in medicine, exactly, just a program that is focused on preparing students to go on to med school). Most people major in biology or some other related science, although you don't necessarily have to major in something directly related to medicine at all for undegrad. You then apply to med school for a degree in medicine.

The point is, degrees in medicine are graduate degrees.

Exactly.

Booyah.
