A friend of mine asked me to write her peer evaluation for Dartmouth, and I'm not exactly sure what to write in it. What points about her character I should include? I'm not exactly sure where to start, any help would be seriously appreciated.

If you've written one, I would appreciate if you could help me in thinking of points to write about.

Thank you in advance.

It’s great that you want to do a good job for your friend. My impression is that the peer evaluation should complement the rest of the application and give insight that can only be gained from a peer perspective. Try to think of specific examples (performance on a team, leadership qualities demonstrated in a club, etc.) of behaviors that illustrate the best qualities of your friend. Are they universally respected for their talents, their willingness to help others, etc.? How do they treat people? How do they behave in the classroom and outside of it? Are there challenges they’ve faced? If so, how have they dealt with those challenges? My d is applying this year, and her peer rec made me cry. It was incredibly touching. I think that Dartmouth wants to know that your friend can make friends who value them enough to take the time to compose a thoughtful letter. It’s a small community, and I think that they want to determine a good fit - will this student be happy at Dartmouth and join in the community? What will they add?

Good luck!

Also, you may want to ask your friend if there’s anything she wanted you to put in or any aspects of her personality she would want you to highlight. It may help in supplementing her application, especially if you haven’t read the rest of the application.

@Sakacar3 @SeeTheDawn Thank you very much for your advice, that is exactly what I needed. I will ask her if there is anything specific she wants me to put in about her, but I will try to think of specific examples.
