I've already sent everything to the admission office except for the peer evaluation. I forgot about it and now it's rather late to ask someone to write it for me. Is it really necessary or can I just skip it? I mean, they already have 3 recs and other things to read, is this evaluation really going to make a difference?

Yes, it's necessary.

My friend did mine in a few hours. I think your friends can make it.

Does it matter if this comes a bit after the due date?

well, if they are missing it, they will just email you. as easy as that.

They might be forgiving if it's late, because they might think it was your friend who forgot about the deadline.

I'm on the same boat. Can I send the peer letter after Jan 1st as long as I send the common app & supp apps by Jan 1st?

C+P from other thread.

From Acing the College Application by Michele A. Hernandez:

Late students always ask me if they should rush to FedEx the materials if they are a day late. I say save your money - it takes admissions people two to four weeks to open, sort, date stamp, and file all the applications so no one will even see when your application was mailed. What actually happens is that admissions staff, secretaries, and anyone else who is free take shifts, rip open all the envelopes, date stamp the documents, input them into the computer, and file them. It always pained me to see all those FedEx envelopes sit on the mail room floor for weeks as we tried to keep up with the mail.

Mrs. Hernandez was an admissions officer for Dartmouth, and she also wrote A for Admission. Take this advice with a grain of salt though. Most of your submission was electronic, while I believe it was mostly paper for the time she was there. A day or two shouldn't matter too much, but a week is pushing it.

In short, send it as soon as it is available/possible. That aside, don't sweat it too much.

Thanks snem and bulldog. Yes I will have my friend writing one for me ASAP. He is asking me what to write besides that he knows me for so many years, we are attending the same school for so many years n we are playing on the same JV/Varsity team n he knows my strengths n weaknesses. Any special words of wisdom that this college is looking for? any insight into it? Thnx

They want qualities that you cannot get from an activity sheet. They want to hear what he feels about you, not a list of activities you've done with/without him, if that is what he was planning on doing. Go for a quality then evidence. Quality then evidence. It can be as simple as that; they won't judge you based on your friend's writing style.

robinhood really enjoys helping others, even without personal gain. He has stayed up countless nights teaching me Chemistry. possibly more elaboration.

Do you think they will still look at it if it's a day late? I totally forgot to send one in for my friend and don't want my mistake to be the reason she doesn't get in.

Actually, I never even submitted a peer evaluation and it didn't make a difference... I got in anyway :)
