can we give it to a sister?

I think technically you could, but I wouldn't. You definitely don't have to give it to someone at your school, but I would find an old friend within two years of your age (preferably someone not also applying to Davidson / maybe even not currently attending Davidson) who knows you well and is comfortable doing the evaluation.

I had a friend on another school's debate team do mine.

Haha, I gave it to my tennis partner, who just happens to be the best writer I know.. coincidence. Ha. I don't know about a sister, it might be too biased. But then again so is a best friend.

hmm...my other schools that have peer evaluations say sisters are fine. my lil sis knows me the best and is a sophomore, so she isnt that little... gar humbug, i could give it to a friend who has known me since we were like 8...hmm...decisions decisions :)

If other schools are okay with it, it might be okay. Honestly, I would recommend shooting an email to your regional admissions officer. The Davidson admissions people are extremely nice (I often do CatChats for them -- I go down to the admissions offices and answer questions for prospective students online in a chat room, while munching on free pizza) and will answer whatever specific application questions you have for them. They will probably take notice of your concern later on when they're reading your application and remember how nice you were on the phone or in your email.

For this question, I would phrase it along the lines of: In terms of relationship to an applicant, who does the admissions office consider an acceptable candidate for the peer evaluation portion of the Davidson supplement?

I don't know that I would ask flat out if siblings can write the recs....

Agreed with amplifiar.

And just so you know. The next cat chat is Tuesday December 2nd at 7pm Eastern.

I don't think that would be a great idea... if i remember right, it asks for a classmate of some sort. And just generally speaking, when people ask for reccomendations, they don't usually want family.

Heck yeah, and I'm so there for the Cat Chat :-)
Look for Alice Phillips '12!

The peer doesn't have to be from your own school, nor in your own grade, just to clarify. Again, I had a girl from another school do mine. There's no mention on the form (or at least there wasn't last year) requiring the evaluator to fill out any information beyond name and contact info, unless I'm mistaken.

^ I'll be in that chat, unless theatre rehearsal goes from 3-midnight, which it quite possibly might...lmao

Oh...high school play practice...those were the good ol' days.

(sort of)
Hope to see you there!

(well...sort of see you)
