Peer evalution?

Is it important to have a peer evalution?

Not all that much. I got in without a peer evaluation in RD, and know a lot of people with the same case.

It does not lessen your chances if you do not choose to submit one.
I will be submitting one though.

No one can say definitively what the tipping point is for any application. I'm certain there are many who were admitted without a peer evaluation, just as I am sure that there are those applications for which the peer evaluation was the tipping point.

If you have someone available who can write a really good one, by all means. If not, the consensus is not to sweat it.

BTW: My D wrote a very cute one for my S who now attends Williams.

Ok. I'll try to ask my best friend to see if he can write something for me since he is really good with writing and know me a lot. Thanks for the suggestions.

seraph508: A peer evaluation can be a good venue to let Williams get to know you in a way that the other elements of the application cannot. My daughter wrote a nice peer evaluation for my son. She thought he was a good match for Williams, but thought that his "stats" might not make that as evident to the school as some annecdotes about him would. He's a student at Williams now - the school really was a good match for him!

great suggestions everyone. I've already asked my friend to write one for me.

It doesn't appear that Williams asks for a peer recommendation any longer. Is that correct or did my son just not see that request on the application and supplement?
