So I have two recommenders with similar names, and one of them is a friend, and the other is my volunteer leader. I was fiddling with the recommenders for a while. However, after submission, I realized I chose the wrong “William” and didn’t assign my friend. Would it be ok to ask my friend to email it to admissions with my personal information to match the file? Or would it be ok to attach it through the Dartmouth Portal?
Having a recommendation from your friend will not benefit you as friends would do anything for other friends. So they will probably just ignore that anyway just make sure you attach your volunteer leaders one, because that one matters the friend recommendation does not. Instead of having your friend give you a recommendation get someone else and read up on this article: http://www.fastweb.com/college-search/articles/the-dos-and-don-ts-of-requesting-college-recommendations
Edit: sorry I never knew about Dartmouths Peer Rec.
Dartmouth has a “peer” rec. it is meant to be a friend or sib.
Yes, I would try having him email it.
@prettygreat The peer recommendation is specifically strongly encouraged for Dartmouth, but thanks.
@HRSMom Thanks! I will
@HRSMom @anxiousenior1 oh okay sorry I was never aware of that
I think they just want an alternative pov on the applicant:). My S decided against applying. S2 was teasing him that he’d do the rec! Good luck!
