peer recommendation

Which other schools, besides Dartmouth, require the peer recommendation?

davidson and williams.

Is that when you have a friend write you a letter of recommendation?

That's pretty much what peer means.

i dont understand..how do they know you didnt write it yourself?!

Someone would have to be pretty desperate to write their own letter. Anyway, that's a good question. Even though it's most likely on the honor system, there are going to be people out there who will write their own rec letter.

honor system?! yeah right! like hs students really care about the honor system...lol...i was just curious none of my schools want that

u would have to be a fool to write your own, they could easily tell if you did. People have distinct writing styles, and it would be easy for someone to detect 2 different writing styles in 2 samples. DON'T DO IT.

Well, that's why school's don't advise parental or peer recs.

People could just as easily send an app in online, so that wouldn't call for writing comparisons.

FYI;
Some colleges do more diligent checks of references than others.
Assume the colleges you're applying to will check out your references.
If they do, and you've lied, you'll never know about it, you'll just be rejected.

In spite of some posters opinions, I'd say the majority of HS College applicants refuse to lie on their applications.

mdk
previous poster was not referring to handwriting styles.

I recommend you pick( well actually you should have picked awhile ago if this is for this year), someone who knows you well and is a good writer (but doesn't try to impress in their writing).
