Peer recs?

Hey, random question...

My friend that wrote my peer rec just sent it to me, and as I read it, tears came to my eyes: it was beautifully written and just...wow. I'm so glad I have a friend that would not only take time out of her life to do something for me, but could write such wonderful things.

In my opinion, it's an amazing rec. But now I'm wondering, how much is it worth...?

You, as all of us, are a package-deal. It will mean as much as it fits/blends into your over-all rap/application--I think.
Not a deal breaker, but it could help seal the deal that already looks good.

ooh, yes, wonderful. because it def. fits in with my ECs, grades, and essay and probably my teacher recs and guidance ecs. thanks!

hmm you know what? at first, before I cared about Dartmouth, I just complained to everyone that it was a terrible thing, to put such pressure on a good friend. and what if none of your good friends are good writers?

but now I realize what a great thing it is, esp. since it's the only college I applied to that asks for a peer rec - they want as many perspectives of you as they can possibly get and try to see if you're the same person everywhere. No one else went that extra mile to try and get the opinion of a close friend, whose recommendation can contain lots of things that a teacher or GC just didn't see. This was today's I-Didn't-Think-I-Could-Love-Dartmouth-More-But-Now-I-Do revelation haha

You must remember that Dartmouth is not at a loss for finding smart people. I think the peer rec's helps the school in building the sense of community and caring that the school is known for: caring, compassionate, friendly.

Ooh- I think that I really do look like a "package" deal. Since I applied as a French major, my peer rec provides an anecdote of me in my French class (and how that story represents the kind of person I am), one of my teacher recs is from my French teacher (and she has said that I'm one of the best students she's ever had), my strongest ECs are French and travel-related, and I've received straight As in all my French classes, along with an 800 on the SAT II.

I hope that qualifies as a "package deal." :)

BTW- I'm really not trying to brag, if that's what this sounds like.
