What rate of graduates from your high school go to the USAFA?

Now, quoting my principle, my high school supposedly sends the most students of any high school in the country to the academy.

We average 1-2 a year every year.

Of the applicants this year, I might be the only qualified one…so it’s up to me for this “tradition.” I am in a class of 665.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

My graduating class was 512, i was the only one who expressed interested but didnt get accepted. The last person to get accepted from my school was 2 years ago. 1 year ago no one expressed interest.

This was for the AFA only, i think WP or USNA had a few more interests.

Of my graduating class of about 450, 3 of us got appointments. And of those 3, I ended up getting medically disqualified before BCT because a waiver didn't get approved (and had to apply for the next year), one other one got kicked out during BCT, and the third one actually graduated this past year. I'll graduate this coming year, so that'll make it 2 for 3. As far as I know, only 4 people from my graduating class even applied; the one who didn't get his appointment didn't get the nomination from his congressman either. No one got accepted to any of the other service academies from our class, but I don't think anyone even applied.

I know this one kid where there's 4 kids from his highschool that came to the AFA this year

3 of us from my class here now, at least 3 from last year.

We live in a very blue state in a blue city and in recent years very very few high school grads have even thought about service academies. My son - USMA Class of 2009 - is the first graduate to attend any Academy in the past 10 years. Coincidentally, we did find out, after the local paper wrote an article about my son, that three other families on our four-block long street had sent sons to West Point in the past 25 years. Also, Buzz Aldrin, a native of our town, was our most illustrious West Point grad - class of 1951.

I'm the only one ever. But three kids are interested that are juniors in hs now.

The school I go to is fairly new. In the past 5 years or so they sent 1 to the prep school, another for the USAFA football team, and one other who did not qualify physically.

My school did not have one apply to any of the Service Academies for something like 10 years. Then I came along and because of my zeal, my best friend and another friend are applying plus one more for tennis but she won't end up going. I don't know how many people from other schools are applying but last year there were 3 people that made it in, one for football and the others off of the regular admissions. Sad part is the one for football has already dropped out.

Reviving the post.

From what I have heard, there has not been anyone from my school appointed to USAFA since the mid/late 80's. Most people who join the military here enlist. I know one person in my class applied to USNA, but I don't know if he made it.

one last year, and one this year. that's all. i think there's one that's going to try USNA next year.

Here in the NOVA area, the are many schools with that have a student going to each of the academies. Fairfax county is one of the most competive areas to get a nomination.

My son's school currently has a one at every year at AFA and 2 are doolies. This year no one is going, but 2 are going to SS.

This area is very funny, 5 boys who were on the same travel hockey team are now at AFA. Three are 2008/ 2 are 2009.

My school has at least one in each class year, but I am not sure if there is anyone for 2010. For a while not at least one person has gone to USAFA every year.

I'm the only one from my school this year :( but our cross-town rival school has five.

We have a class size of about 410.

I'm in a high school of around 300, and a senior class of 70. I am the first from my school to ever show interest, and the first to be accepted.

I was in a HS of about 350 per class, I'm the only one in recent memory that has gone to Air Force; we usually have one or two go to WP or Annapolis. My year, I was the only one to go to any Academy. This year, there is no one.

Yea, I'm from NOVA too!

There's a lot....

Our school district split from one to two high schools three years ago. Our graduating class has about 450.

A 2003 graduate is a 2nd year at AFA now, a 2005 grad is at AFA as well. This year, one applied to Navel and AFA and has recieved Appointments to both (still undecided). A second applied to WP and Navel. Has only recieved nominations to both. Second students father is a WP grad (I believe this student's grades and scores are on the low side). My son applied to AFA and WP. Has recieved Appointments to both but chose AFA. He'll see you on June 29th.

I am in a class of about 454 and so far I am the only one who has expressed an intrest. Everyone seems kinda surprised I am intrested actually. The only other person I know who has gona to AFA is a third year right now if I remember right.
