Pegasus scholarship levels

Anyone have the stat cutoffs and dollar amounts for the Pegasus scholarship levels?

I don’t know that there are published cutoffs but the Gold Pegasus ($10,000)was awarded to a friend of my D’s who had a 1380 SAT and about 4.2 GPA.

Thanks, seiclan. Was that in state?

I found the numbers for USF and I am thinking UCF may be similar
http://usfweb2.usf.edu/admissions/freshman_scholarships.htm

Yes, my D’s friend is instate. She is currently waiting to hear from UF before she decides where she will attend but that scholarship definitely will tip the balance toward UCF for her.

BTW, my elder D (a current sophomore at UF) was offered the Silver Pegasus Scholarship at UCF (I believe it was $7600 two years ago but is up to $8000 now). She also turned down a $9600 scholarship at FSU.

I also got the Gold Pegasus award with a 33 ACT and 4.8 uw GPA.

Would be nice to have a chart of all of these wouldn’t it? Not just to compare colleges but to know if ten more points on the SAT might be worth a few thousand dollars. FSU used to post their University scholars cutoffs but I don’t see it online anymore.

seiclan, do you know if UF has a similar scholarship scale?

davidng, thanks for another data point.

I don’t believe that UF gives any merit scholarships (other than national merit).

Was wondering because I just read this quote in the Sun-Sentinel
“Universities such as the University of Florida are increasingly using their own institutional aid dollars to buy up high-performing students who aren’t from low-income families,” said Danette Gerald, assistant director of higher education policy for the Education Trust, a Washington, D.C., policy and advocacy group.
Doesn’t sound like he’s talking about national merit since UF has been cutting back on that.

I got the Gold for OOS and it ended up being 27,000 over 4 years. My stats were 4.4 WGPA and 1500 SAT.

My D received the Pegasus Gold with a 30 - ACT and a 4.138 GPA (in state)

Is there a listing of the scholarship levels and amounts somewhere? I’ve been looking all over and I can’t find them anywhere.

No, UCF dosen’t publish a listing.

I’m fairly certain Gold is the top unless you qualify as a National Merit Semifinalist or better. Then you get the big time money.

Does anyone know when UCF informs you about being a Pegasus scholar? My daughter got her acceptance from UCF on Thursday (she still can’t view anything online–it says she doesn’t exist) and her invitation to apply to the Honors college on Friday. There is a place on the Honors application for whether you are a Pegasus scholar. Those of you who did receive that when did you hear?

My daughter got the award letter about two weeks after the acceptance letter.

Seiclan, would you mind posting your D’s stats? My son was admitted and we were wondering if he might be offered a scholarship, haven’t heard anything yet. Thanks

My elder D’s SAT was 1330 (2010) and her GPA was a 3.83 (at a private, competitive prep school). She was offered the Pegasus Silver Scholarship in October of 2005 (for use in Fall 2006). She opted to attend UF. Good Luck to your son!

Davidng150, was that your weighted GPA or unweighted? I didn’t think UW could go over 4.0? And, if you don’t mind answering, was your ACT composite during one sitting or combined from several?

Thanks!

I think my scholarship offer also came about 2 weeks after the acceptance letter arrived in the mail.

Thanks Seiclan, I goofed, I thought you were talking about your D who was just recently accepted to UCF. I thought our younger kids (I have a S who is a sophmore at UF also) had roughly the same stats and he might be offered something too.
