Is it possible to receive both the Pell and FSEOG grants? What is the difference between the two?

It is possible if you have lot of need.

The pell grant is based on your EFC. For 2008-2009 (don't know about 2009-2010) the maximum Pell was $4731. To get $4731 required a 0 EFC. As the EFC increases the Pell reduces. Once the EFC reached 4042 there is no Pell grant. The Pell is not a limited funding grant meaning you get what you qualify for based on your EFC.

The FSEOG is very limited funds and is campus based aid. Each school is given only a certain amount of SEOG dollars. Once those are awarded they have no more. It is awarded to the neediest students, but each school uses their own determination of what constitutes 'neediest students'. For many schools this means a 0 EFC. Other schools may use a different way of determining who they award it to. The federal maximum is $4,000 but schools set their own maximum based on how much funding they receive and the demographics of their students. At my daughter's school the max is $2,000. At the local CC it is only $200.

Oh, ok, nicely said.
