Pell grant lower than estimated?

Okay so I do plan to call the fin aid office as soon as I have time during their hours(I’m still working full time for a couple more days and my work hours are also their work hours. Ugh)

When I filled out my fafsa it said my EFC is $0 and my pell estimate was $6,195. I just got an email from my school to let me know my fin aid package was available to view… and it said I would only get $3,872. Why is it so low? It is because I have not finished enrolling in classes yet?

I also got a PHEAA grant for $3,508, and I thought PHEAA was harder to get than pell so why would they be almost equal?

COA for my school is just under $11,000 if that makes a difference.

Any help is appreciated thank you!

Is that $3872 for the year or the semester?

Year. And it’s split weird too. Where the PHEAA is split in exactly half per semester, the Pell is showing as $775 for fall semester and $3097 for spring.

Did you get some Pell during the summer? The 3097 in the spring is 1/2 of a full Pell. The question is why the reduction in the fall.

No. I have never recieved pell before. This is my first year of college, but I’m considered a transfer since I have some credits from military OTJ training.
