Pell Grant question

What does one's EFC have to be in order to qualify for a Pell Grant?

someone please respond.....I'm almost positive I'll qualify w/ my EFC, but you never know.

an approximation? anybody?

Well, my understanding is that it has to be 3 thousand something, but I don't recall what it is. Did you try contacting your school's financial aid office? You don't have to provide any information. Just tell them it is a general question.

when you fill out the FAFSA I beleive it tells you if you are eligible or not.

I'm getting Pell Grants! (estimated based on EFC)

they do? I have to go back and look then. I just got my EFC on my SAR and FAFSA.

I think there is a code at the bottom that indicates whether or not you are eligible for Pell, subject to verification etc.
we haven't done the FAFSA yet so this is out of memory.

Actually they state right at the end where they detail your EFC whether you are eligible for Pell grants.

This is what mine says and I will almost positively qualify for a Pell Grant.

" Based on the information we have on record for you, your EFC is XXXXX. Your school will use this number to determine your financial aid eligibility for Federal grants, loans, and work study, and possibly available funding from your state and school. You may be eligible to receive a Federal Pell Grant and other federal student aid."

Someone told me that the EFC for the 2005-2006 Academic School year for eligibility with this grant is 0-3850. I would call the Student Federal Aid Center (800) 433-3243 and ask a representative about this.

if those 5 XXXXX = 5 digits, I dont think you can get financial aid, i think it usually has to be 4,000 or under

To qualify for a Pell Grant for 2005-06 your EFC cannot be higher than 3850.

whoo hoo EFC = 0 :) this is the only time I'm happy to see a zero
which means i qualified for GATES SCHOLARSHIP....

Zero's CAN be great! Congrats staticsoliloquy!

Anthony, I realize I put 5 X's :), it was on purpose.

My EFC is 0 too.

I feel poor. -_-'''

It pays to be poor ;-]

Here is a link to ta table which shows the distribution:

"I feel poor. -_-''' "

Well atleast being poor allows you to pay for $15k or less colleges easily. Would probably be much harder to pay for the top ivy leagues.
