<p>need some help my tap is $1500 my pell is $2800 . school tuition is $1700 books only cost $380 and i get free metrocards what happens to the leftover $2500 . this is per semester total is $8600 for full year please help the school didn't answer my question when i went to bursar's office</p>

<p>Your TAP and Pell awards are $1500 and $2800 for the semester, or for the year? If that’s per semester, then you should receive a refund sometime during the semester…it may take 6 weeks or more, depending on your school’s policies. The refund schedule should be posted somewhere on the school’s website and you may have to submit a refund request form.</p>
<p>Btw, the maximum Pell should be $2775 if that’s per semester.</p>
<p>So does the pell grant get paid directly to the school and the school will refund to you the difference?</p>

<p>Yes, both of those grants must go through the school first. TAP is NY’s student aid…it only applies to NYS residents who attend a NYS college.</p>
