What is the worst thing that can happen when I go to my FA at my school to correct significant mistakes in both my FAFSA and my CSS profile? Should I be prepared for the worst?

What about mistakes in previous applications?

You need to correct any mistakes on your current FAFSA and Profile (if the school requires it). You will need to provide them with any documents the school asks for to verify the accuracy of your figures.

If you were awarded financial aid based on false information, you could be required to pay it back. This is true for the previous school year…at least.

But the most important thing to do is correct the FAFSA ASAP and resubmit it with ACCURATE information. Do the same for the Profile (the school will tell you their process for correcting this). Make sure all corrections are ACCURATE.

Has the school flagged your previous years’ financial aid award as a concern? If so…you will need to answer their questions honestly.

Just be honest. People do make errors, and corrections can be made. BUT if you were awarded aid because your info indicated smaller income and assets, then yes…be prepared for a lesser award. If you KNOWINGLY provided false information to receive aid…well…that is another whole story.

Grimita, did you get the info I requested when I responded to your pm? I know my mailbox was full last week, but I emptied it. I don’t think you need to worry as much as you are worrying … although since you mention Profile, that could be an issue. Please answer the questions I asked you so that perhaps I can give you some guidance.
