Pencil on FRQ?

First of all, it was difficult for me to write in ballpoint pen than in pencil. Second, after I crossed off some parts, my answers looked very messy, which could give a hard time to scorers and hurt my score rather than help. I wished I could 'erase'.

Then I heard that I could use pencil on FR. Is this true?

Thanks!

When I took the calculus AB exam, it said on the booklet that you can use either a pen or a pencil. I also heard from people here that’s it’s the same for other tests. So yeah, you probably could have used a pencil.

Use an ink ball point pen. You don’t need to press to write with them but they glide.

For the history FRQ/DBQ, you must use a pen.

If you are talking about calculus, then yea, you can use a pencil, which is what I did, and I’m very glad I did lol.

In non-math exams, pen is best because the FRQs are scanned into a computer to be graded, I believe. I’m not positive, but that’s what I’ve read/heard.

If such is the case, then it would be really hard to read writing in pencil. Have you ever scanned a document written in pencil into your computer? It doesn’t turn out very well…

People have answered your question already, but what about an erasable pen?

I have had good luck with these [Amazon.com: Pilot FriXion Ball Fine Point, Black Erasable Gel Ink Pens, Dozen Box, 31550: Office Products](http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001GAOTLY?tag=dvdmaailm) . Staples has them for about $5 for 3…

Thank you so much, guys. I will try those erasable ballpoint pens for the next week.

Staples in my area do not carry that erasable pen in black or blueblack.

Anyone know whether it is ok to use pencil on Physics B and C tests? Thanks!!

I don’t know about Physics, but what I do know is that I’m also bad at writing with pen. What I try to do is buy a pen that I know I can write easily with, one that feels comfortable and has ink that flows easily when I write. The erasable ones can be a little messy (in my experience), but it might work! I just try not to cross out too much these days, haha.

Yeah, you are right. I just bought a Pilot erasable and tried it. It does not erase clean at all…

So, Anyone who took Physics exams -B and C- in previous years! Pencils are ok?

Pencils are OK, I believe; if you look at the samples on AP Central, you can see some with obvious eraser marks. Just bring both pencil and pen and read the back of the pink book tomorrow.
