Have you ever had a problem with using mechanical pencils on a ScanTron? Why are we required to use regular pencils on standardized tests? Why do the people who use mechanical pencils [on "No Mechanical Pencils Tests"] never have a problem with their scores? When will we be able to use mechanical pencils on these tests? Did BIC steal collegeboard's girlfriend back in HS?

you're not allowed to use mechanical pencils on standardized tests? i always use mechanical pencils

According to them.

I use mechanical pencils, and I've never had a problem with them.

hm. i've never heard of that. we don't take standardized tests at my school besides the psat, maybe that's why? although for my regular classes we always use scantrons

I was planning to use Mechnical pencils on the SAT yesterday, but nooooo Mom wanted me to buy those Ticonderoga pencils. ><;

hey lablondie, i've always had a question about why the United States is Communist

oh wait, that's right, it isn't

you can most assuredly used mechanical pencils. In fact, there is not a single standardized test I've taken in which I've not used them in one part or another. As long as it says #2 on it.

As I recall the ACT says "DO NOT USE MECHANICAL PENCILS" I definately did anyway.

Just to tell you though, for bubbles, you either want a .9mm leaded mechanical pencil, or a normal wood one, as the duller the pencil, the faster you can fill in those bubbles...

For written sections on AP (that they don't need a pen for) nothing beats a mechanical pencil, for calc etc.

I used mechanical for everything. If the lead refills says #2 HB on them, its the same thing. If it doesn't, it might cause problems due to the lead not being thick/thin enough.

I always break the lead on mechanicals...Ticonderoga are by far the best :)

I like Classmate No. 2 pencils. They look friendly to me for some reason.

I agree with mikey. Mechanical pencils are flimsy and worthless. Nothing beats the invigorating scent of a freshly sharpened Ticonderoga. I HATE dull pencils, so I bring a sharpener with me everywhere.

i always use mechanical pencils. i hate regular pencils...

It doesn't really matter. I rarely even have a pencil at all so I take what I can get.

I hate regular pencils. So hard and uncomfortable :( I used to really like the Titanium pencils (I think by papermate) but they changed them a couple years ago and now they feel all cheap. Right now, I'm using a * liquid * pencil. Its pretty awesome... I guess I'm just a school supplies freak though ;)

P.S. The worst part is when the old wooden pencils get "scratchy." Like the lead makes a horrible sound when you're writing. Its hard to explain I guess...

A LIQUID PENCIL??! WHERE CAN I GET ONE? lol i love school supplies

I used a mechanical pencil on the SAT yesterday.

Pencils suck esp Ticonderoga. Pentel Sharp 0.5mm - cant beat this.

Nerds use Pencils.

I'm not a nerd.

Mechanical pencils are sexy.

Yeah, I like the pencils with the super-soft and super-pink erasers :) They make my day! Although I must say, for enduring hard hours of writing, the Dr. Grip mechanical pencils are quite reassuring.

I think I bought it at Staples or something :)
