Pending Ivy Transfers

Hey all,

Been awhile since I posted. We're already 6 days into April. Anything new going on? Anyone hear anything?

It's only a matter of time...gah

Nothing yet... I suspect Cornell (I assume that's what you are talking about) adcoms did not start the reviewing process till this past Monday the 4th. Usually the very first wave of decisions will arrive a week or so from the start of the reviewing, which is the next week.

yikes =/

Did you apply to any other Ivies?

Nope, only Cornell... thus I'll probably be disappointed greatly if the odds turn out to be against me, but even if that's the case, I'll try next year nonetheless.

I feel so insecure/unconfident now... probably will only worsen until the decision is out.

I talked to a rep at Dartmouth and they told me that they would send out decisions by mid-May and that all of my stuff had arrived; I'm pretty anxious about that...

Side Note: I have not yet sent my mid-year reports to Cornell and Penn... my professors are taking a while. Will this hurt me for admissions? I know Cornell is rolling and therefore time is of the essence; for Penn I don't think it'll matter as much. By not getting it in, will I ruin my chances at Cornell?

-Eddie-

lol i haven't sent my midterm report either.

:(

what's your gpa?

i hope mine makes up for it somewhat

For Penn, if you are applying to The College, then yes, it best if you get it out ASAP. They make decisions on a rolling basis too, just like Cornell.

And if you are applying to a rolling school, get your stuff in ASAP because they review apps that are complete and make decisions. They fill spaces as they go along. With that said, get that midyear out.

Oh yeah, I need to point out that even tho Penn is rolling, they won't let you know until May.

Ed, I applied to Dartmouth as well, and have yet to receive any type of receipt of application. Did you receive any kind of confirmation, or was the absence of any communication what prompted you to call?

What major are your guys applying to? And what grades are you expecting on the midterm report thing?

Cornell (Human Ecology): Human Biology Health and Society
UPenn (the College): Biological Basis of Behavior.

HS: 3.75
1st Semester: 3.45
2nd Semester: 3.71

Hope my 2nd semester will make me look a little better.

As for Ivies, I applied to Harvard, Brown, and Dartmouth. Am I correct in thinking that none of these schools require a midterm report, or am I sadly mistaken?

I applied to:
Cornell (Engineering) - Engineering Physics
Penn (College) - Physics

My GPA is 4.0
My midyear should be 6 As and a B+ or worst case 5 As and 2 B+'s (The B+'s will be As by the end of the semester though).

Thanks for the info on Penn, I'll send it as soon as possible.

By the way, the lack of communication is what prompted me to contact Dartmouth. However, they did tell me that they sent out snail-mail notification of received materials.

-Eddie-

wow. i'm sure you're in even if you geta few B's on your midterm. A 4.0 is hard stuff

congrats :)

im jealous. lol

I only have one semester of work though... (Although I am technically a Junior after this semester, via AP credits) so I don't know how impressive a 4.0 is after one semester.

-Eddie-

Thanks for the encouragement by the way... with the release of freshman admits I have been a wreck as of late.

i also have a 4.0 but i just have two quarters of classes plus AP credits.
needless to say it maybe very detrimental to my situation, especially to UC.

although I played it safe by declaring as a sophomore transfer (regardless of AP credits)

Yeah, it's been scary as hell - so many qualified students getting such crappy options. Let's just hope it's not a bad omen for us transfers =).

those of you guys w/ 4.0 gpa where are you currently at?

i made a 3.786 last semester on 14 credits and so far my midterm grade this semester is 3.809 on 21 credits.

i'm currently at tulane

Luckily, none of the schools I applied to requires a mid-term report, but I am thinking of sending one in anyways.
