For those of you who have gone through the waiver process:
I was wondering if you have any background with Pending Waiver Submission/Review". This is my status on the DoD-MERB site and its probably been at this state for at least two and a half weeks. Like how long is the waiver status going to be "pending"? How long does it generally take for them to review medical records?

My assumptions lead me to believe that this is when there is an actual doctor or professional in the area that is reviewing the records, justifying your position, etc. Usually DoD-MERB & the academy work efficiently together to get things straightened out quickly. I was thinking that perhaps its taking longer because of the holidays. As you can imagine I am going nuts checking my status everyday, if not twice a day, because DoD-MERB refreshes/updates their site every ten minutes. Its hard to wait out when you know that the problem is a result of misinterpretations of remedial information. & irking to be constantly asked, Howre things going as far as the Naval Academy? Actually I might not know til April, but thanks. Yeah its frustrating. Some of you guys probably get that all the time, too.

Any informative input would be very much appreciated. Or, if anyones experienced this, howd things turn out? Thanks.

you need to keep on them. Call the admissions office and ask to speak to someone in medical, and call DODMERB as well. I have been through SO much w/ the medical board. But I've found that if I am persistent I will get answers. They should at least be able to tell you what the status of the process is. After 4 months mine finally says "USNA waiver granted" :) All b/c I was persistent. I actually was told at one point that I was rejected b/c of medical stuff, but I made the right phone calls and got it cleared up.

Thanks, Scit! USNA has already dealt with my persistance on previous issues (I was eventually cleared) and you're right that it pays off. I guess I'll have to really crank it up on this one though. I called DoD-MERB last week and for some reason when they transferred my call it wouldn't go through...weird. It happened like 5 times. Thanks again for the advice.

DoDMERB will be able to tell you if there is anything you need to do. As it turned out my daughter had 2 remedials to deal with. It turned out that the doctor from one of her tests never gave her the report to send to DoDMERB. She assumed they would mail it in. Also, there was a vision problem. It would have taken 6 weeks to get another appt at the Naval Base to merely handle a minor problem and get the report turned in. We went to our own eye doctor the next day and overnighted the report to DoDMERB. We had to pay for it, but it was better to go this route than to wait that long. The people at DoDMERB were very helpful and explained the alternatives. Her remedials were cleared up within a week.

it sounds like you are waiting on a waiver, not review of a remedial. If it is a waiver, then I am pretty sure that it is the academy that gives the okay for that as they can only award so many appointments based on waivers
