And don’t forget, around 20- 25% of the class is international for Wharton.

I guess Wednesday the 12th is still better than Friday or even Saturday…it’s a couple fewer days for us to wait.

@benevolent

Good point, but if also assume that the majority of hooks applying to Wharton, and to Penn in general, do so knowing that they’re already somewhat competitive without said hook.

Why would the majority of hooks other than legacy apply ED in greater numbers than RD? The majority of applicants to all schools still apply RD so it doesn’t seem like most applicants are using ED strategically whether it’s with or without a hook.

Just a thought, if there are numbers that show something else, I’d be interested to hear about it.

“Some of our schools look for particular skills sets or strengths, but the overall admission rate for each of the four undergraduate schools is equally competitive.”

I pulled this off the Penn admission website. haha

@Madabout

Well, considering half of the freshman class is accepted ED, perhaps (and I am now speaking for myself, as a URM) those with a hook just really want to go to Penn no matter what, which ED helps to accommodate. Doesn’t have much to do with them feeling they couldn’t get in without a hook.

Anyone else given up all hope? It just seems like Wharton is a mirage I’m trying to reach in the desert of college admissions.

Actually, ironically, I’m feeling pretty confident although Wharton is a “mirage”… and I have a 2110 SAT score by the way…

@Bigbusiness

Hear what your saying. I do not think ED is all that different for hooked or unhooked applicants vs RD applicants. I have no numbers to back this up but recruited athletes, urms, etc all have their hooks regardless of when they apply. Only legacy definitely have a leg up in ED that isn’t there in RD.

Actually I do believe that most recruited athletes usually apply early decision, I may be wrong though. I had a friend being recruited by Columbia and Princeton and he had to choose one school to apply ED to in order for his athletic talents to be considered for admission.

Just found out that there’s a recruited athlete at my school. Penn usually only accepts 1-2 kids from my HS, so my chances just went from bad to worse. Ah well. :(

^ I know how that feels. :(

When is the exact decision date? Some people say it’s Dec 12th…

They should be sending us an email within a week or so. If you want, you can call the admissions office and see if they tell you.

Dec 12th is a Wednesday…hasn’t it traditionally been a Friday?

Also, anyone know what time? Last year it was 5pm EST, I think.

You guys talked about Wharton’s seeking diversity. Would being an Israeli increase my chances of getting in as an Early Decision applicant? I moved to the United States right before high school.

Penn is too silent right now. Did anyone get any information request? People haven’t heard anything from Penn.

My guidance counselor screwed up my transcript and sent in my letter of rec twice. They didn’t notice or say anything. I dont think they’ve even started looking at the apps yet.

Because the deadline was extended, do you guys think they’ll send us our decisions later?

I"ve applied ED to JEROME FISCHER. Fingers crossed :P

Any idea about the exact date and time they’ll post the ed results? And that’ll be where? In the UPenn portal or they’ll send us an email?
