Penn 2017 ED Discussion Thread

why does columbia always get their decisions before penn. grrr…

What they meant is they have completed 3000+ interviews out of 4700 ED applicants. There are 2 more days to go. For those didn’t get interviews, don’t feel depressed. It is not a break-it or make-it factor.

They said they usually need 3-4 days to finalize everything in front of the committee. So they got enough days by the 7th to be ready. That’s my logic. Also from the 12th to the 15th, there will be many other ives releasing decisions. penn is usually ahead of others.

Really?? Dec 24th is kinda late…

So December 12th is not the final decision date??

I still hope decisions are posted earlier, like on the 10th or 11th. Perhaps we will be getting emails this weekend with the real date.

My D had her interview about 12 days ago. She really liked it and every contact she has with upenn seems to strengthen her conviction she is making the right choice. Hopefully, they feel the same about her.

If only colleges wanted us as bad as we wanted to go to them, right madaboutx? haha good luck. And I have a feeling that Penn will either switch the notification date to friday the 7th or just stick with the 12th. While they want to get them out early, they still have to process all the interviews and other info for a few days, so they may not have everything done by the 7th.

The thing is though, you have to keep in mind that Sandy gave 5 extra days for applications to get submitted. You can probably expect a similar delay for the “usual decision announcement time” (Dec 7 + 5 = Dec 12? Also 12/12/12 would be pretty cool… :P)

It would be kind of funny of decisions were 12/21/12 - apocalypse ;)

12/12/12 cool.!

@45% or any other current Penn student - I’m applying to Wharton ED. Is it common to do a double or triple concentration there? (I realize triple concentration is kind of pushing it, but a Wharton alum I know did one, so I just wanted to know if it was something people did pretty often)

^ To quote Wharton:

[Concentrations | Wharton Undergraduate](http://www.wharton.upenn.edu/undergrad/academic-excellence/concentrations.cfm)

They should release decisions 12/12/12, 12:12:12 - get a super-accurate timer or something lul.

@45% - Thanks so much. You always give super helpful answers!

So how much workload is 4 extra courses? How many courses are typically taken in a semester?

^ Spend some time exploring the Wharton Undergrad web site, starting with this page (and you don’t necessarily have to take 4 extra courses to add a concentration):

[Flexible Curriculum | Wharton Undergraduate](Flexible Curriculum - Undergraduate)

are we going to get the official date by e-mail tomorrow for sure?

^ They’re currently saying that you’ll get the email next week:

[MyPenn Portal - Penn Admissions](http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/apply/portal)

Haha 45% I’ve spent (way too much) time on that website :stuck_out_tongue:
My question was meant to be slightly different. I know I’m treading into very subjective territory here, but I wanted to know if those 4 (not necessarily) extra classes represented a significant addition to what is considered a normal Wharton course load.

Keeping in mind that I hope to pick up a minor from the College as well.

Oops I mean 8 (not necessarily) extra courses (for a triple concentration)
