Just got mine! I submitted my financial aid forms a couple weeks late XD

@Foxtails - Yeah, like someone said, you could get accepted, but you’re Financial Aid will be delayed. No need to worry dude.

Foxtails, yes the financial aid an the admissions decision are completely detached. It was not an application requirement to have your financial aid documents in for the ED deadline. It only mattered if you wanted your aid package with your decision, if you didn’t submit a form that just means your just have to wait longer to hear what your aid package is.

WHAT??? You want ME to go through all of the financial aid applications???

Probably not such a good idea.

Since we’re a week away from decisions someone should start a different thread for the actual decisions like they do every year.

^ There is :)! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-pennsylvania/1425491-official-university-pennsylvania-ed-2017-results-thread.html

We aren’t posting there though, since we want to preserve it for the actual decisions, and not muddle it with other discussion :D

And thank you to all the reassuring responses (about the fin aid conundrum) - I guess we’ll have to find out Dec 12th!

Guys, have there been any articles released about Penn ED?
Sometimes they say things like,
“this year’s class includes a world-ranked chess player, a star football quarterback…”

or something like that

Also, any speculation as to how many applied ED to Wharton vs. other schools (SEAS, CAS) this round?
Perhaps there are more Wharton applications than before as it has become even more prestigious in the past several years.

I know! Are there any articles about Penn 2017?

^ How can there be articles about the Class of 2017 when nobody’s been accepted yet?

There have already been articles about the ED applicants to the Class of 2017:

[The Daily Pennsylvanian :: Penn’s early decision numbers compare favorably to other Ivies](Penn's early decision numbers compare favorably to other Ivies | The Daily Pennsylvanian)

[The Daily Pennsylvanian :: Early decision applications reach all-time high](Early decision applications reach all-time high | The Daily Pennsylvanian)

But if you’re looking for articles about those who have been accepted to the Class of 2017, well, you’re just going to have to wait until after they’ve been accepted! :)

Also, what percent of applicants applied to Wharton, Nursing, and SEAS this year?

^I don’t think they’ve provided those breakdowns yet. (Or whether they even plan to…?)

Just think - we’ll know our decisions in less than one week!

I’ve got my “WHY DON’T YOU LOVE ME” email ready to be sent to Penn on the 12th.

Gosh, I’m so psyched for this decision. It’s easy to forget that there are other really awesome schools out there too. Good luck guys! I wish we could all be classmates next year (you too, 45%, if you feel like going back to school)

CC Penn Class of 2017! If only, if only… <3

Good luck to everyone else too! Hope to see y’all with a big green “accepted” on the Official Results Thread in 6 days!

Wharton17: If you decide to change anything about the Official ED Decision thread template, I’ve always found it interesting/useful to see what each applicant’s intended major (if known) is. If you don’t add it in as a line, perhaps people can add it to the General Comments area if they want to disclose it. Physics or Finance or Philosophy…

I worried about not being contacted about financial aid too. But consider this: they only look at financial aid applications after admissions decisions, since there is no point in going over all of them (unless you’re not need-blind, although the below still applies to that case). So if they do contact you, then wouldn’t that be an early indication that they have decided to accept you? And that would just blow the surprise. I think if they had any problems with your financial aid, they would tell you about it in your acceptance letter.

Overall I don’t think anyone should have heard back from financial aid, so you shouldn’t worry that it means something!

How much do you think that being a legacy (my dad went there) and having a sibling currently at Penn will help my chances of being accepted early into Wharton? Anyone have any relevant statistics?

I was just looking at a scattergram of applied and accepted in the 2 years 09-10.

Legacy did well although they had equally competitive GPA and SAT scores as everyone else. So, there’s no way to know if someone pulled the legacy card because they met the same competitive standards as everyone else. You can google it and find it yourself.

Your bro doesn’t make you a legacy though and it only gets considered in early decision.

^I heard somewhere that when it comes to legacy, it’s basically like if they have two otherwise competitive applicants, but can only accept one, they’ll go with the legacy candidate.
