Penn 2017 ED Discussion Thread

I’m so thankful that I didn’t finish handing in everything for financial aid or I would seriously be sobbing on the floor right now.

Congrats Obby and Liz if you both were accepted!

I don’t think that we need to worry, FA applicants! Just think, if your parents can afford $400 you don’t need to sweat! We’ll know in less than 48 hours anyways! :)

I love the fact that you guys are genuinely supportive. Like actually, whether or not this is what it means, I would love to have you guys as future classmates.

go class of 17!

@pennyoony yup got an interview with a local alumnus.

Penn gives FA to most of its applicants, even the upper middle class ones. The ones who need FA the most would probably get that letter (meaning they got accepted most likely). If you applied for FA and didn’t get a letter, it doesn’t mean anything, since there are so few accepted that qualify for the 400$ waiver even if they need substantial aid.

Congratulations Obbypen and lizmarielemon!! So happy for you guys!

Amazing! I’m so happy for you two! I’m a non FA applicant, so I guess it wouldn’t be applicable to me  For those who didn’t get the email, Penn did not make final decisions until saturday at noon so don’t worry, it may not mean much. And that too, many more people than just two would have gotten this email if it went out to all FA applicants. Either way, I’m extremely happy for you two! Hope to see you at Penn (If i get in) :)

You guys are some of the kindest online peeps I’ve met, but I have to naturally pass the congrats lol. I’ll wait alongside you all until my birthday (12-12-12).

@foxtails Thanks, The color coding put a smile on my face because it seems you are genuinely happy haha.

and WE HAVE OUR FIRST ACCEPTANCES!!

Congrats to Obbypen (and happy early birthday) as well as lizmarielemon!

Hey, Lizmarielmom, what state are you from? My friend who is also low-income and applied for financial aid was curious as to if this was a state thing?

Ahh congrats to the two accepted peeps! I applied for FA but I could easily handle the $400 fee, so I guess I’m not too worried.

New york city :)

wharton17 If it helps, I’m a Floridian applicant. We’re not accepted yet! It’s just bad word choice lol

Could the two people with the letters please put down their state, test scores and school that they are applying to? My income is <30,000 but I got no letter.

Congrats you two! I don’t want to be a downer, but don’t freak out too much…this is an awesome sign but I would hate it if you two weren’t accepted, that would be very cruel of Penn!

omg im poor as hell i shouldve got that letter, sad about life now lol. But congratulations to you two! :)

Look, if they are asking for an enrollment deposit, and my friend who applied ED and from california, who has close to the same income as you did not get this email, it means you’re in. Let’s face it, they would not bother sending an email like this if they were not going to accept you. In addition, Ivies only send accepted applicants to the finaid office to put togethor packages. You made it. Be happy! SCREAM AND SHOUT AND JUMP FOR JOY!

Guys again this is absolutely no indication that we got in. And I don’t really have great stats lololol

For some reason, despite the logic behind the conclusion that we MAY have gotten in. I can’t get myself to be happy. I just want that Hurrah Hurrah on Wednesday.

As for stats, I’m an IB student with a 1480/2140 (M:720, CR:760, W:660) and 32 ACT.
