Um yeah, thats how prestigious college admissions work. they get way more qualified applicants than they have room for, and once you pass that level, whether you have a 3.8 or A 4.0, its a crapshoot. i didn’t get into penn either, coming from a top 15 school, and instead i’m likely going to brown, which takes a lower percentage of applicants. brown is also supposed to be really about fit, which considering i think i’m a much better fit for penn, makes it that much more surprising.

So you’ve discovered that transfer admissions is more about how they want to build their class, not getting the best students. Why would they care substantially about your GPA, if it will not contribute to any statistics about enrollment (almost all statistics reflect the freshman classes)? You need to be incredibly intelligent to go to a top school, yes. But they look for so much more than that. I got into Wesleyan with a 3.65 at a top 40 LAC. Academically, I thought I had no shot at getting in. But obviously, my person as a whole was what they wanted. Whether it be my involvement in sports, or my strong interest in political theory and social reform, or my desire to explore the mind-body connection, something stood out and I was accepted. It doesn’t matter if your grades are perfect, when it comes down to it. SAT scores and GPAs don’t save lives, engineer new inventions, or write novels. People do.

high school course work seems to be a big factor…

It’s quite simple really. You were not what Penn was looking for, therefore, you did not get in.

lol exnovis, why don’t you just quit the act and stop referring to yourself in third person. It’s quite easy to tell from ur past posts that ur referring to yourself. Carneggie Mellon? 2040 SAT?

Penn rejected you. Get over it.

Wow. Next time I’m down I know just who to turn to…

perhaps i was a little harsh on my last post. But I just thought he was very disrespectful to the people he singled out.

Maybe you were unfairly discriminated against? Maybe the adcom who read your app was having a bad day? Maybe everyone else bribed the admissions office? Or maybe your SAT and Essays hurt you? Could be anything I guess.

HEY I’M ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE…

LIES AND SLANDER!

I could care less. He can do whatever he wants to make himself feel better.

Your ECs were probably overqualified!
