Hey there! I think your SAT is fantastic and I’m jealous ;). Also about the ECs I can attest to the amount of time and effort drama club and the fine arts can take (fellow thespian here :)) Just write great essays and I’d be surprised if Penn doesnt accept you… and if they don’t it’s their loss!
Chance me back?

Haha thank you Hockeydude. I’m just not sure if I really want to go to Penn over any other ED option :/

You have great scores and EC’s!! However, you’re applying to are very selective…you have a pretty good chance at Penn and Brown, though Columbia and Yale are higher reaches. You definitely need to find a few (2/3) safety schools. However, you definitely have a pretty great shot at Penn and Brown.
If you’re not sure about Penn then don’t apply ED, you might just end up regretting it. It would definitely boost your chances, but if you’re not absolutely sure it’s your top choice, then don’t go for it.
Good luck!!! :D

Chance me back? ( http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1374409-list-realistic-will-chance-back.html )

FYI, Cortana gives very helpful advise and is not a ■■■■■. In face he gave me substantial, positive, and quality feedback on my thread regarding similar schools a couple weeks ago. You have mince objective stats but honestly you don’t set yourself apart which will hurt. You need to be a different voice in the application. Everybody’s different but for some reason our applications don’t convey it enough. It’s a good idea to try to strike the area where you are different and can develop a distinctive and creative voice. Otherwise, you will very likely get rejected from the top schools. I see you have played Varsity Lacrosse, are you any good? Maybe you should contact the coach and send in game tape to all of your schools. The ivy league is big on lacrosse for the most part and it would give a substantial boost to your app if they want you.

Deblerg: Thanks! This isn’t my whole list; I’m applying to a full range of schools.

Divy: Don’t worry, I took Cortana seriously. I’m not naive. I just found his sarcasm a little bit rude. I’m pretty confident in my writing ability: not in that my writing is enjoyable or interesting or whatever, but in that my writing clearly conveys my distinct personality. I have a very unique “voice” in my essays, so my essays are going to be something that I hope set me apart from the rest of the pack.
P.S. In no way, shape, or form am I good enough at lax to be recruited hahaha :/

Okay. Are you gonna speak of a unique experience or relationship? I would make sure that essay could not be duplicated by a single person applying like not even remotely. Find an experience so different or creative that the essay will never be forgotten. That’s going to be huge.

I don’t know, I think I’m going to write something about social observations and life in general because my writing is very discerning about those around me. I guess the unique experience is that in my life, I consciously think about the environment around me and how it shapes both me and those around me? I think? I still have to flesh it out, haha

Annenberg communications major is theoretical and research oriented, not remotely practical.

Your biggest advantage might be your lack of interest in medical school. Admissions is deluged with applications from people who seem similar to you and insist they want to become doctors.

I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not, Wordworker…

Those schools get thousands of applicants just like you… What do u think your catch is?

Hi toomuchsoul! Thanks for chancing me! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1377181-chance-me-please-will-chance-back.html (for others). Like you, I’m aiming high and whilst for anybody those universities you mentioned are reaches, I don’t see why you dont stand a fair shot like the rest of us! Your SAT score is great and so are your extra curriculars but I think it is important for you to focus on showing depth and passion in a few of them rather than you have done everything. You’re volunteering seems good too but remember it’s not about the hours, its what you got out of it!! anyways good luck!

You definitely have good leadership and consecutive EC’s. It looks like your scores are high enough to get in and take the most difficult course load available. As long as you really stand out in your essay, you appear to have great chances of acceptance! Good luck!

if you can find a way to connect your interests together to show more focus, i think you will have a good shot at columbia and penn. yale is more of a long shot.

I almost forgot… chance me back, please!

Good GPA, ECs, and test scores.
Penn: high match/low reach
Brown: high match
Yale: low reach
Columbia: low reach

Chane me back, please! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1378560-chance-me-nyu-cas-ed-cornell-ucla-etc-will-chance-back.html

I think you look like a very unique and interesting candidate. I’d say that your chances are fairly good, but a lot of it just depends on who you might be up against. Overall, pretty impressive. It’s always tough to get into those top schools no matter who you are, but you just gotta apply and see what happens! Even if you don’t make it into all of the Ivies, I’m confident that you will make it into a very good school. Best of luck!

Also, please chance me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1378736-do-i-have-chance-columbia-other-tough-schools.html

Penn is pretty big on legacy so I’d say you have a good shot there. However, your ECs are pretty broad/generic

Apparently Penn has been rejecting more legacy applicants than it accepts.

Goodness! Great SAT Score. you have some great ec’s and a double legacy going on! If you apply early decision, you should be fine. I don’t understand your GPA scale, as mine is in a 4.0/5.0 scale. Anyhow, your stats look great and you should be fine!

If anyone gets an opportunity, please chance me - I’ll chance back.
