Would a major in economics from Penn's College, supplemented by classes or a minor at Wharton be well respected in the I Banking field.

I know four people in SAS at Penn who got offers from Ibanks (Duetsche, Citi, and 2 went to JPMorgan).

Is that bad or good?

thats very good.

You have to remember that you are going to the university that wharton is at. That means that you are exposed to all of the recruiters that come to campus to interview wharton kids, so you get all of the exposure you need.

the down side is that you are competing with the wharton kids, so you just have to shine that much more to get those spots over the wharton people.

UPENN is an excellent university, the econ program at SAS may not be a degree from wharton, but its certainly nothing to be ashamed of.

There are no minors in Wharton, but you can certainly take classes in the school, which employers will see.

And OCR (on campus recruiting), which is primarily for finance/consulting type jobs, is open to anyone of any major. The real trick is just keeping your GPA up and staying involved. Wharton has the pull, but really, Penn CAS is equally world class.

Thanks for the advice. Very helpful
