It’s random, kids–completely up to the whims of the great Email Server Gods.

But if you guys are having lots of fun with this, please, carry on! :)

^It must be amusing to see a bunch of panicked high school seniors running around in circles, trying to hyper-analyze every move made by the admissions office in the week leading up to decisions, no? :D

but they must have some system of how to send out emails? Do they just pick emails out of a hat?

^Probably, but seriously what are the odds it has anything to do with admission decision? It could very well be based on the date it was submitted or something like that.

^ it could be the order they have reviewed your apps or in the order people have submitted or all mixed together.

What’s amusing is that this same discussion occurs every year when these emails go out. If you want to kill some time while waiting for Decision Day, do a search for past threads and read this same speculation from your predecessors. :p

^^lolz i tried looking for past threads do you have links to them?

“predecessors”

LOL

I’m afraid to invest too much time mulling/analyzing my decision. I mean, the more time invested, the more it feels like I will have lost, if I get rejected.

I think I remember them freaking out last year too!

i am at 8:22…this is way too late

Wharton, last name Fang, received 3:52 PM :)

i got mine at 3 pm that day, and i’m a shoe in. looks like they’re in order of admission

this is a joke…

Who knows… on Wednesday we should all post when we got our notification emails in the results thread :P

yep 8) that’s what’s up

All of my friends who received it later just “happen” to be less qualified than those who got it first. I don’t know for sure its just a speculation :

Hmm…a few of my friends who are decidedly less qualified (not that they’re bad students) than some of the others applying from my school got the email first, and the most qualified got it last. The “less qualified students” that I’m talking about are unhooked, Asian, sub-3.7 GPA, and about 2000 SAT…so not bad students at all, but it doesn’t make it seem like this speculation about e-mail order is correct. Most likely just random.

And plus, when they sent emails out, decisions weren’t finalized yet.

Well I had a 3.4 gpa and 1930 sat score and i was not sure if i was going to have a chance. But then i got that notification first so now i am pretty sure i’m getting in! tough luck for the rest of you guys!

you won’t need the luck, pleein123, you got the e-mail earlier!

Really, for those of you who think you got in because you got an email early honestly doesn’t mean anything. If they were releasing emails early for those who got in, why not just release the decisions? This is such a pointless speculation
