Penn ED 2015 INTERVIEW Thread

^ If that was aimed towards me, I sent her a quick thank you email tonight (and got a very quick “you’re welcome!” response a few minutes later). I don’t think it really matters if it’s by email or post as long as you do thank them for their time, to be courteous and all. If you do have their email, I’d go for that route, personally.

i loved my interview we had it the sunday before thanksgiving at my interviewer’s home. she was one of the nicest people i’ve ever met and we talked for about two hours about everything under the sun. afterwards, i emailed her and thanked her and she asked me if i wanted to grab coffee and continue our conversation outside of the college interview process. what an amazing experience

Thanks Spazzy.

Is that true that only students that are loved by admission officers are interviewed? How many ED Penn applicants are interviewed?

^ Pretty sure that it has nothing to do with if you are a strong applicant or not. I believe it just depends on the alumni versus applicant ratio; if you don’t have enough alumni (or don’t have any at all), you may not get an interview. Don’t fret if you don’t get one.

Do the interviewers know what college to which we applied (CAS, Wharton, Dual Degree, etc)?

I think they’re told your intended majors and stuff.
If not they would ask you anyway.

Have my interview next week. I’m excited yet nervous. People that have had the interview already, what were the hardest questions they asked you that you may have stumbled upon a little bit? Hopefully all goes well next week and I don’t really screw this up :)

Alumni interviewers are not given any information about your application. All they have is your contact information.

homerj, they know what school you go to and what school you applied at Penn you applied to as well.

I applied to Penn pretty late (12/27 I think…)

Do I have any shot of being offered an interview?

Wahrton if you are still posting:

I have not interviewed because I’m a Junior, but you said your good ones last about an hour. I’m not very chatty and I wouldn’t be able to elaborate for 15 minutes on 1 topic like my EC’s. My EC’s are my weakest point so I don’t want to have to start freaking out >.<

Is it more just small talk and stuff, or is the conversation mostly you talking about yourself. I know that sounds silly, but I just don’t want to be a part of any awkward moments where I don’t know what to say.

^^^ I stand corrected. They get your name, address, phone number, email address, high school, and Penn school to which you’re applying (wharton, cas, seas, nursing).

I’m a recently admitted ED student to the M&T Program, and here is just a little bit about my interview:

I was contacted about a week after I received my Penn Portal log-in information (around 3 weeks after I turned in my application). Contacted by e-mail for an interview/lunch at a restaurant. Interview lasted about 1.5 hours. Talked mainly about the extracurricular activity that I’m most involved in, decision for deciding to apply for a dual degree program (really know your reasons…the interviewer kinda told me the negatives of dual-degree programs and wanted to hear my opinions about what he said), and what I liked to do on my free time. Very comfortable and relaxing!

Are interviews required for RD?

^ No, Interviews are not required for any of the applicants.

I applied to penn in late december (after christmas) and i just had my interview. It went extremely well and the guy asked me to keep in touch with him even after college decisions :)

@mjhhockey98 That was nice of him. I hope i will have that kind of interviewer.
