Penn ED 2015 INTERVIEW Thread

a pretty icky situation - an alumni contacted me today via email to set up an interview…the problem is, the system must have assigned me with someone from my high school area, but I’m taking a gap year and am not where I used to be…I’m in a different country. What do I do? I’ll contact the admissions office tomorrow, but how should I respond to the alumni personally?

I’m from New Delhi, India.

I checked on the website, and there is a Secondary School Community present here. However, I haven’t received a mail regarding an interview at all. Have any other internationals been contacted for an interview yet?

Also, can/should I request an interview? If yes, should I contact the admission office or should I contact the Secondary School Community in my city?

link to check if alum’s are in your area?

and does anyone know if everyone how was an active committee in their area gets an interview?

Woo! Just got contacted for an interview! So excited.

Good luck Ortsac,

I am hoping I get a chance to interview as well. I know they said during the Info session not to worry if you don’t get an interview, but I live in an area where there are a ton of Penn Alums so I would think I would have an opportunity for one. Are there any posters who can comment if they were accepted but never interviewed yet lived in an area close to Philadelphia?

Thanks!

Had my interview today at Starbucks, it was great! She was a Whartonite too. We really clicked, since my goals really (coincidentally) matched up with hers. Hoping interviews do have a little bit of weight for ED round, cause it can only do good for me, especially with my horrid GPA and whatnot.

Best of luck to you guys too :)

How did they contact you for an interview? and where are you from?

for people who have already had their interviews, what did you wear?
im not sure if i should business attire or just semi dressy?

^business casual or business should suffice.

i’ve been called up for an interview as well, but i’ll be out of town then! will it worsen my chances at acceptance if I did not attend an alumni interview?

should i just cancel my trip?

i haven’t actually been contacted yet but i can’t wait
i’m counting on the interview to prove that i do actually have a personality

can anyone tell me approximately how long after they submitted their application they were contacted by their interviewer?

thanks

It seems some people were contacted just a day or two after. I submitted on the 10/31 and got contacted 11/5, but you can be contacted anytime before December.

I just got a call from a Penn alumnus for an interview! When I asked him about whether I should dress formal or not, he said that he really wouldn’t care if I wear sweatshirts and jeans and that it’s meant to be a relaxing “meeting” rather than an interview. Any suggestions?

Were you guys contacted by personal email, UPenn Portal, or phone?

has anyone from dallas got an interview?

Live within 26 miles but I have not been called for an interview – Is this bad?

Hi hopetomakit.

I also live close to Philly and haven’t received an interview request yet so don’t worry yet. I have heard from someone who does the interviews that they basically get a pretty
long list of kids to interview and they randomly pick ones from the list. Not all interviewers have the time to get through the entire list they are usually pretty busy people. Best of luck, let me know if you get one and I will do the same.

I had my interview today - I think it went well. My interviewer said she would write me a good letter, so fingers crossed. Lets hope it actually does have some weight.

My son hasn’t been called for an interview yet and we live in NY.
